My son started cereal at 2 months old and he is doing really good with it. He eats his cereal better than his bottles now. He is about 19.5lbs now. I am thinking about giving him a portion of vegies at lunch time now at 4 months old. When did you all start your children on baby food?

i think it comes down to how you were raised but two weeks would be to young hahha

i agree with Gina that 1and 2 months is too early, i have seen friends do it and i strongly disagree. but it is the mothers choice at the end of the day i feel like i have never had a say in anything that happens to mydaughter with all the professionals involved

....yeah 1 and 2 months I THINK is way too early.. Breastmilk/formula is better until they are a bit older.  Every baby is different.. I would not always trust the Dr's. word.  Momma truly does know best!

its ok to start him on baby food at 4 months!! my daughter is tube fed with milk and had problems with weight gain and the professional (speech pathology and dieticians) put her on solids at 3 and a half months and just told us to watch out for signs that she wasnt handling it. ive heard of people starting solids as young as 1-2 months. 4 mnths if fine good luck :)

Your son is 4 months old and weighs 20 pounds!!!???...WOW That IS BIG .  My son is 3 and weighs 30.  He should not be eating baby foods till hes about 6 months.  I started with rice cereal before bed in the LAST ounce if his bottle at 3 months..helps them sleep a little better at night with a full tummy.. even then he was getting rash so i had to stop and try again like 2 weeks later.  Then he did not get the red butt.    Babies need formula/breastmilk fo develop properly.  They need the iron to develop good.  .. Id say try rice cereal at about 3-4 months just in the last OUNCE or two.. at about 6 months he'd have 4-6 oz and 1/2-1 container of veggies.. i started with green beans.  Do all the veggies first SLOWLY then fruit.  I would not do any mixes till you know all the others are gonna sit well... one kind a week... then switch to something new so if they have a reaction to the food you will know what it is. Cause if your doing em all you may not know what ones causeing the problem.(aka butt rash/the squirts..ect)  .  I hope this helps you.

i didnt start feeding my son cereal until he was 6 months. That is typically around the time that most doctors recommend starting solids. However my friend started he kids at 4 months and everything went fine. I would check with your doctor. You don't want to feed your child something (such as eggs) and create an allergy.

i started him at about 6 months-very limited, and didn't give him rice because his digestive system wasn't developed enough to process the nutrients properly in the food! i still breastfeed him very regularly but now supplement his diet with most food, except for eggs, milk, etc. usually the best thing to do is to wait until about 5 months at least to really start giving them "people" food...breastmilk or formula is really the best way to go until then...another big reason is that if you start solids too early he is much more likely to develop food sensitivities/food allergies because his body doesn't know how to process all that new food properly! hope that helps! good luck^_^
