I'm thinking my one year old needs a new nap schedule... She was napping at 10am and 2pm, but she isn't really napping for the second one anymore, but can't quite make it until her 7pm bed time. I'm curious what your 1 year old nap schedule is?

try what my friends call the sleep bible: mark weissbluth's healthy sleep habits, happy child. It really makes you understand your child's sleep needs and mechanics. I think I view the whole sleep issue from the 'wakefulness' angle. How many hours of 'being awake' can my child handle? At 12 mos, it was more like 3.5-4 hrs, so he woke up at about 630-7am in the morning and then had a nap around 1030-11 and then another one about 230pm and went to bed around 7pm. At about 15 mos, the average wakefulness they can handle is about 5 hrs, so he wakes up at about 630 and then has a nap around 1130 till 130, goes to bed around 630pm again. The total sleep duration in 24hrs remain the same but the number of naps reduces to one longer nap per day.. Good luck

My son nap times are 9:30-10am & 2:00pm. Before when I put him down for his morning nap he would not want to take his afternoon nap. Then I realize what I was doing wrong. I use to give him a bath before his morning nap and just put him down for his afternoon nap and that was not working. So now I don't give him a bath in the morning, I give him a bath for his afternoon nap and that works perfectly. So when it's time for him to sleep at night he sleeps right thru the night till about 7 or 7:30 am.

I have a home daycare and I've found that for1 year olds, I gently introduce a routine of 1 nap per day in the early afternoon (12h30 or 13h depending on the child). Playing outside is one way to keep her awake during the time she would have been sleeping otherwise.

My son is on the same exact schedule except he goes to bed between 7:30-8ish. He is starting to give me a real hard time when its bedtime. For his naps he doesn't cry goes right in and sleeps but at night he just started a few days ago screaming the minute I walk out of the room. So I am too, thinking of cutting out his afternoon nap, maybe putting him in at 11:30 for his nap and see how he does at night with havin only 1 nap. He turns 1 10/21

My daughter stopped napping twice a day maybe 2 or 3 months ago (she turned 1 last week). Sometimes she feels a little bit sleepy around 11 am, but by that time I prepare her to go out, so she stays awake. She falls asleep around 1:30pm for hour/hour and a half. If I insist she'll fall asleep before noon, but she will refuse to sleep in the afternoon and in the evening she'll be nervous.

My baby turned one in sept. also, she used to nap at 10 & 2 as well, but lately won't want to nap at 10 anymore... so now I've pushed it to 12, and she is tired and ready to sleep then but will not nap again later. She is having a hard time by the end of the day but I am hoping that she will adjust and sleep longer at her new naptime.

My daughter is 15 mths and will be awake for about 4-5 hrs in the morning (after waking at about 6:30-7 on average) then sleep for 2-3. She is then up till bedtime which is anywhere from 6-7:30 usually depending on how she is going that day. My older daughters used to be up for only an hour or two in the morning and be back in bed and then have an arvo sleep too. Take your lead from her, some days may differ from schedule. Good luck

Hi Whitney, my daughter is on an 8am-pm schedule. I got her to take one long nap by keeping her awake longer in the morning. She usually took a nap at 11, so I slowly pushed naptime back. She might fight it, but just do something relaxing that keeps her attention. We watch Wiggles clips on YouTube. She's 19 months now, and doesn't take her nap until almost 1pm, but she sleeps for 2 hours, then plays quietly in her crib for another 45 minutes before she starts fussing to get up. I do the same thing at bedtime if she's cranky early. Hope this helps.

It depends on what time he gets up. Mine is a late sleeper. If he gets up before 10 he will nap at around 12 and again at around 4 and still go down at 9 which is our bedtime for him. One will be a long nap and the other will be like a cat nap. If he gets up after 10 he will have 1 nap for about 2-3 hours. You know your child. Maybe postponing the 2:00 nap to a little later will help. Hope this helps, probably not. Good luck!

Yea I think she is almost at the one nap a day. She still needs a power nap late afternoon, but it quickly is becoming shorter and shorter.

My son turned 1 on the 28th of September, but he only naps about 40 - 50 minutes a day at daycare at around 11:30 am. Some days when we get home we lay him down at 5:30 for about a half hour but the last week or so he hasn't needed it...but he does sleep a good 12 hours at night, sometimes longer. So, I think he is getting enough sleep. I would feel a lot better if he would sleep a little longer at the daycare though. Not much help was I?

My daughter has been doing the same. She just turned one on September 18. She changed her nap schedule herself. She used to nap two times a day for 2 hours. Now she naps once a day for 2-3 hours at noon.
