Mommy and me classes will be AWESOME for you! Start them as soon as you want. The best part, you can get more comfortable about being in pool and learn to swim right along with you're little one. She'll never know you didn't know how to swim.

Now ... mamma and me classes .... all in shallow water, you holding her the whole time ... water only three feet or so. My daughter took her first lesson at about 3 months and loved it. There are adult lessons you can take that will allow you to swim with her as she grows. Swimming is amazing, such freedom of motion ... I love it

They have Mommy and Me type classes for as young as 6 months, so as long as you find a class that suits you.... any age is fine. 'Real' swimming lessons tend to start at 3 or 4.

Most early lessons are more to get them comfortable and used to the water, I believe. Actual "swimming" lessons tend to start at age 3. It certainly wouldn't hurt to start now, though, just to get her used to that lesson-type setting, so that when she DOES start the serious business of learning how to swim, she'll already be used to that group dynamic and won't be distracted or unnerved by it.
