It's normal for a child to be on really good behaviour while at Grandma and Grandpa's house, and then collapse into a whiny mess for half a day or so when he comes home. I think he's just crashing after an exciting and stressful time. (good stress, but still stress because it's a different place, different bed, different routine)

Just stick to the boundaries and show him some extra loving when he gets home and he should snap out of it after a few hours or a day. It doesn't mean he doesn't love you. It shows that you are his safe place.

For the problem that he doesn't acknowledge you when you pick him up, he probably just doesn't want to leave yet! Don't set him up to disappoint you. Instead of waiting for him to run into your arms, go over and give him a kiss on the top of his head while he plays and say "Good to see you, son!" and then go chat with your parents until you're ready to go. Maybe he's one of those kids who needs a bit of time to adjust to a new situation, so just give him a little time. Again, it doesn't mean he doesn't love you.
