I am a single mom of a beautiful 3 year old girl. Her father was only in her life for the first 10 months and then left. She is starting to get curious as to who her "daddy" is and I completely freeze when this topic gets brought up. Was wondering what I could say to help her understand or tips on how to deal with it.

He told me that because we can't be together he can't be in her life. Our relationship was not healthy and it's better off if we are not together. He lives 20 minutes away and has not asked about her or to see her this entire time. I do not want to have to contact him for him to see her. ( I have tried before ) I feel if he wanted to be in her life then that's up to him.

Where is her daddy? Is there a reason he chose not to try to stay in contact with his child? Is there a possibility of trying to encourage contact?

It's possible to talk about her daddy, and maybe even show her a picture, but let her know that sometimes, there are times some people aren't quite ready to be a daddy and her daddy wasn't ready and maybe, one day he will be ready and you hope she can get to know him then.
