I put my baby on cows milk at 6 months old, spot on the day. Never did her any harm shes 14 months old now and she is fit and healthy. at the end of the day, it depends on the individual child and if you feel comfortable doing it. always get advice from your doctor or health visitor, but you will always no what is good for your child.

If your baby is on solid food and has teeth. You can try them as soon as you feel comfortable. I had mine on real milk around 8 months but they could not handle or have homoginized milke/whole milk. I had to use 2% or 1% milk. I am willing to give my advice in all things.

As many have said, it's highly recommended to wait until your little one is 12 months old. My children transitioned pretty quickly, so they should be no worries on waiting till then. Plus, as previous mentioned, it's better for the digestive system, as it is not fully mature until around 1 year of life.

i started my 10 month old on cows milk when he was 7 months old, he was put on soy milk when he was 2 months old, as he was reacting to the normal formula's, and he does alot better on good old cows milk than he ever did on any of the formula's we tried.... it all depends on the child and wat they will prefer, since switching to cows milk, my son i s now drinking more milk, we were lucky to get 3- 4 bottles of formula in when he was younger bout now he is very happy and content. just pay attention to wat your child likes and dislikes, if u are curious, give it a try, just remember that they prefer you to water it down to start wheaning them onto it. good luck, hope it all works out for you.

No Cows milk or goats milk should be given to children under 1 year. This is because the level of protiens is high and babies can not digest the protein fully. It also contains alot more bacteria than formula/breastmilk. You should try weaning from 1 year on. Yogurts and cheeses are fine before 1 year because they are fermented allowing the proteins to be broken down. Yogurts can be a great source of calcuim for your little boy. But for now, keep him on the formula.
Also, you should keep them on Whole milk until 5 yrs old, not 2, that way too young. Children need whole milk until this age. My whole family drink full fat...apart from my mom and lil girl who are on soya. Its done us no harm and none of us are overweight.

While formula until 1 is most commonly recommended, as well as whole milk until 5 that is not always the case. My Ped said at 10 mo ths with my sm to go ahead and start whole milk because he was eating a regularly scheduled me blended diet. When he turned 2 she said he could be on 2% due to his healthy weight, development and nutrition.

its totally up to the mom. my mother started myself and my sister on cows milk at 6 months old. my son is almost 8 months and hes already eating yogurt and small pieces of cheese. hes got a great appetite and enjoys new foods. i have absolutly no problems or concerns starting him on cows milk. if your worried about it. dont do it.. when your confident in your baby that they want it and will enjoy it. i say go for it. YOU know your baby!

Your baby can start on real milk as long as it is recommended by your pediatrician coz' it is being monitored if the milk is suitable for your baby. One of the bad effect of unsuited milk is that your baby will be having severe colic pain and LBM.So see now your pediatrician.

The reason why it is suggested to wait untill they are atleast one year old to start on cows milk is because the calcium in cows milk can coat the iron and make it unobsorbable. Iron is very important for them. So I would wait till the 1st birthday to start introducing cow's milk. There isn't really a need to rush it. Formula and Breastmilk should be the main source :)

Wait till 1 year! Whole Milk till 2 years then switch to lowfat after 2. They still need the extra DHA that is found in the whole milk and not in the lowfat. Plus it gets them more full since it is heavier. Alot of people start their babies at 8 months but it is better for their digestive sytems to wait.

Like everone else has said and I did we waited till our little one was 12 months, but you being a mom will do what feels right, your best bet would be to try it, and if it dosn't work then you will know to wait. However I think (onless has been told by a doctor to change) that formula is the best bet untill they are 12 months because of all the vitamins and minerals, and everything else that is in formula and is not in milk, and after your kids are done with formula it is hard to make sure that they get all the nutrients that they need especially during their prime years when they nee it most.

"Iron in human breast milk is well absorbed by infants. It is estimated that infants can use greater than 50% of the iron in breast milk as compared to less than 12% of the iron in infant formula . The amount of iron in cow's milk is low, and infants poorly absorb it. Feeding cow's milk to infants also may result in gastrointestinal bleeding. For these reasons, cow's milk should not be fed to infants until they are at least 1 year old . -
That is an article from :
It has a lot of great info on that site. Be careful about giving your baby cow's milk too soon.

All advice I gave and my kids are in High School and its really up to you when you put them on. I had no health nurse or pedestian scold me for the timing of being under a year.My kids are all healthy and they had more teeth than a normal under yr old. But I also had a nurse as a mother who already had kids before formula was invented I think. But it really up to you and how the baby system is. Like it is mainly on baby food and pablum? Consult your health nurse and doctor. You have to also use your own judgement, for you are the one that knows your baby more.

I have always been told 1 year old. Thats when I did it for the last 3 of my kids the 1st we didnt know any better and did it about 9 months he's just fine, but I think the concern is digestive developement and food allergies.

hi well i know you pediatrition is saying not till your little one is a year but i started my son on whole milk when he was exactly eight months old he could keep formula of any kind down and was not getting full because he continued to spit up and yes he spit up still the first few weeks on milk but it soon stopped and he was less fussy and stayed happier when he would eat my sons pediatrition did not agree with what i did but you know that saying mothers know best well when it comes to your own child you usually do know whats best for them.
