When should I start potty training my son?

My son will be 1 Wednesday, he knows when I say "Let's go potty" he'll walk to the bathroom. Should I go ahead and buy him a potty for his self and see how he reacts? Im not for sure exactly how to go about this.

Agrees with Gena. You can buy a potty for him and have it in the bathroom. But just realize that it will most likely be 1-2 yrs before he is ready to train. I do day care, so there is always a potty chair in our bathroom. Having it there never hurts. It allows them to get familiar with it and it also helps you know where they are at in their interest. My daughter has gone from ignoring the potty chair completely to sitting on it from time to time when I go potty. Now she will sit and likes to wipe with the toilet paper.....all clothed still. She is just over 2 yrs old. She is learning how it all works, but not ready to train yet. She will let me know what she is ready for and when. My guess is that the next step will be her wanting to sit with her pants off/down.

I think 1 is still too young to really start potty training, but you can get a potty and see how he reacts. We got one for our son when he was 2 and it was in the bathroom along time:-)He started using the potty at the age 2 and a half. Just keep on telling him lets go potty but give him time till he is interested in using the potty.
