My son is getting big and I'm starting to feel like he's not getting enough milk. He wants my milk more often then usual. And sucking so much that my nipples are getting sore. Should I give him cereal this soon??

Just went through the same thing wih my little one - offering a feed just before and straight after naps worked well for us and didn't disrupt her sleeping patterns.

It sounds like he is going through a growth spurt. My son was like that too at his age. Your body will soon adjust to produce more milk for him. The more he sucks, he is signalling to your breasts that he needs more milk. Don't worry your milk supply will soon increase for him! Drink plenty of water and use lanolin for your nipples if they get cracked or sore. I think it's too young to start him on cereal. Best wait until he is 6 months to introduce cereal... and that is only to get him used to new textures and flavours, it is not necessary for him to eat at that age to continue to be healthy and grow. Breastfeeding is still his main source of nutrients! :)

My daughter was the same way, she was starving in the evenings. No matter how much she ate, she still seemed hungry. My doctor told me to start her on cereal. It made her feel so much better! I just gave her a soupy portion of the add breastmilk/formula type (for easier digestion) and she was so happy! I only give it to her at night so I don't reduce her milk consumption during the daytime. My daughter is a healthy 9 month old now and I do believe my doctor was right to put her on cereal at 4 months.
Every baby is different, many babies can wait until 6 months to start cereal, but not all. So long as you're not doing it to try to get your baby to sleep through the night sooner (which doesn't work), then cereal may be best for your baby.

He is probably going through a growth spurt. When that happens they eat a lot more than they used to, which in turn increases your milk supply. Hopefully you get some relief soon, he will probably start slowing down. But yes he is to young for cereal.

That's pretty common in breastfed babies! Sounds like you're doing fine!

Too young for cereal. How are diapers? If he's getting enough diapers, he's getting plenty. And additionally, solids are not supposed to replace any feedings since breastmilk is the main source of nutrition
