When will my baby be old enough to enjoy books?

My baby LOVES books! While we certainly want to foster that, we would also like to keep our books with their pages intact. He is good with them most of the time but then sometimes will suddenly tear pages. He prefers regular paper books to board books. At what age did your kids typically stop tearing pages?

I don't know if I'm "allowed" to post links on here or not, but here's an idea: let him hold an "indestructible" book when you want him to hold the book himself. If he is like my kids and wants to constantly grab at the pages of the book you are reading him, letting him hold a different, indestructible book while you read him the one with paper pages might work. Here's a link to the Amazon page of one book my mom bought for my kids that is really cool - the pages are like paper but really really durable. I'm not trying to sell them of anything; obviously other companies make cloth books which would work as well or some even make plastic books that can even go in the tub.

Thanks! I know that's right. I just don't remember the other two tearing pages like he did!

There is not set age that they learn how to turn the pages without tearing them, it's just when their fine motor skills are more refined. Perseverance is the key as well. Sit down with him and keep showing him how to turn the pages properly, he will eventually get it.
