I just relocated back to NY but have not found a church home. I attend my sons, grandmothers church, so i'm curious if I should have it done there!

Hi Rebekah. Thank you confirming my thoughts. I'm not sure just yet about joining the church as I don't think it fits all my needs spiritually but I am actively looking. Almost every weekend I have spent my time looking visiting other churches etc. I guess I will wait. Talking to the pastor will be a good idea too. Thank you for the advice.

Do you think you might eventually see this church as a place you would join? If so, ask them if they would be ok with you having the dedication prior to becoming a member.

If you are unsure about this church, why not delay the dedication until you do find a church home? Are you actively looking? In our church, part of the dedication is a commitment that the congregation makes--to support the parents/family to help provide a spiritual community to support the child's spiritual development. If you are not attached to the church, I don't know how that would work, or how they might reframe the ceremony. Maybe it depends on the church. Perhaps the pastor would have ideas for you. Good luck!
