Hello everyone, Just wanted to know if anyone could reccomend a baby carrier that is really comfortable for a 13mth old????? I have so far tried the moby wrap ( couldn't get on with it!!! ) also tried the babasling and it was the same. I would like something that is safe to carry a baby on your front and on your back. I have seen quite a few on the net eg babyhawk oh snap, ergo baby carrier etc.... These however are very expensive and I wouldn't want to just buy them at the price they are!!!! Any help would be very much appreciated

Thank you for reading. x

Hi Lisa,
I'm sorry I didn't get to reply before you spent your money but I thought I should reply anyway. Like you I have tried a number of different carriers but my favourite - by far - is the Hug-a-Bub that I have now. It is essentially a long, wide bit of material that you tie around yourself so it fits a child of any size perfectly. The width of the material means that the child's weight is spread evenly over both shoulders and throughout your back so no one area bears most of the load. I can carry my daughter for hours and have no sore muscles afterwards. It is so comfortable and can be worn many different ways - on your front facing in or out, on your back facing in or out, or in a nursing position. It comes with DVD explaining how to tie it and each of the different ways of wearing it. A few of my friends have Ergo's and have totally loved them, however I was under the impression that you couldn't wear your baby facing outwards on your front..? Anyway, I'm sure you'll love yours too! Enjoy!

I love, love, love my ergo baby carrier. I have a very large 6 month old (20lbs) & this is just perfect. It also comes in a bunch of really cute styles. It will hold a child up to 40lbs. I got mine off of the ergo website because I haven't been able to find them in stores in my area, they also sell a bunch of other slings & stuff on their website too.

Hi Cara, thank you for your post. I did have a moby wrap and by the sounds of it is similar to the hug-a-bug that you use. I just couldn't get on with the amount of fabric there was . I must admit it was the most comfortable out the 4 I had. babybjorn, moby, freedom sling( although this also was quite comfortable, it just didn't feel right for me! ) the babasling so hurts after a while. So now the ergo!!!!!!! I do agree that as far as I know you cannot face you baby looking out while carrying on the front, but you can do a side carry!!!!! we will see. I really hope I like it or it will be on ebay!!!!!!! hahahaha. I will keep you all posted. Thanks so much everyone really appreciate all the great advice. XXX

Hi Shelly, that's really good to hear. Argh I loved the grey one, but it was the most expensive think its because its quite a new colour and I was thinking should I or go for one a little bit less ( just to make myself feel that little bit better!!!!!hehe ) so I ended up getting the black and camel one!!!!!!! still really love the grey one. Will let you know how I get on, cant wait for it to come. Even though my daughter is 13mths she was 8 wks early, so she only weighs 21lbs so hopefully I should get some good use out of it. Wish I had seen this one from the start. Ive had in total 4 types of carriers!!!!!!! so fingers crossed this will be the one. xxx thanks.xxx

You will love your ergo. When I first spent the money I thought "oh what the hell was I thinking spending that type of money!" I bought the grey one with stars so my husband would use it too. We both love it & I use it at least an hour or more a day. It is so easy to get on & off when I'm by myself. It may take you a couple of fittings to get it just right, but I'm sure you'll love it. I even carry my 2 year old around in mine.
