I watch a 5 year old (pretty much full time- 24 hours a day, 6 days a week and sometimes 7). She has had a pretty rough childhood until recently.
She is in preschool (8-1pm) but no activities are offered around us.
Her biological dad has 2 other children with aspergers syndrome. She is currently with her grandparents and they choose not to have her tested and she also struggles with ADHD. However, her grandparents do not think medication is okay so we are looking for natural ways to help her calm down.
She is being extremely whiny lately. She wants to whine to get what she wants and I ignore her at this point. But, when she is in trouble, we use timeouts and she will scream at the top of her lungs and whine the whole time she is in timeout. I try very hard to ignore her but its at a point where I want to just cry while she screams! I dont know what else to try to get her to stop screaming during timeouts.
