my doctor told me it sounded like excma so she put me on some antibiotics (yay) not and gave me some cortisone cream (yay again not) i went on the antibiotics and used some cream (only a tiny bit) and it cleared it up but when i missed a tablet it came back, im not going to do the full 2 month antibiotic dose, i came off the antibiotics after a month because i hate the thought of taking them and its been a couple of days &my lips have been fine, hope they stay that way because it was getting worse. im not going on antibiotics again if it comes back i will just try & keep finding a natural solution. thanks for ur help ladies
i will check out that website Christine too thanks

he told me to use a lip moisturizer called Lypsyl, and to come back or let him know if it doesnt get better. he told me that since they keep splitting in the same spot, it might be an infection and might need to take a biopsy to see what he should treat me with. he wasnt very helpful about the lip situation, but he definately helped out about my ears.
i might see someone else about it, but for now i guess its just chapstick.

pregnancy definately messes up the body in so many ways. im sorry i wasnt much help.

"Early signs of riboflavin deficiency are: soreness and burning of the lips, mouth, and tongue; fissures and cracks in the lips; a purple, swollen tongue; burning and itching of the eyes; photophobia; a loss of visual acuity; and possible anemia."

I also have cracks at the corners of my mouth and swollen lips since becoming pregnant. Started with baby #1 and I'm now on baby #5. These symptoms are almost always present but much worse during pregnancy. I'm going to try increasing my B-2 intake and see if that helps.

Thanks Alyssa
the only relief i do get is with the lip balm & mine dont crack its just the edges that burn & peel all the time
doctors dont specialise in one particular area so its best to seek help with some one who does
good luck & keep me posted if u come up with any ideas & i will pass mine on also im going to have some blood test done i think to see if my hormones are still all weird

You're welcome. Usually for that kind of thing they prescribe steroids of some type (Hydrocortisone cream), but you certainly don't have to use it. I wouldn't on my lips unless it was causing severe irritation. It simply reduces immune reaction, but also reduces immunity and skin integrity. The best thing is to find the cause.
