Who will participate in tomorrow's Take Your Kid to the Park and Leave Them Day?

Is anyone here going to participate in the 3rd annual Take Your Kids to the Park and Leave Them There Day tomorrow at 10 am (your local time)? It's geared for kids ages 7 and up.

My son won't be participating because he will be at a sleepover birthday party. He and the other kids will probably be having their breakfast at that time or playing in the yard or a nearby field.

Every day in the country where I live (Germany) is Take Your Kids to the Park and Leave Them There Day. Kids play in local parks, even in the big cities, all the time without any adult supervision. The little ones do have their parents with them at the parks and playgrounds. But once they reach ages 7-8, they walk, ride their bikes, or ride their scooters to the parks by themselves and play until it's time to come home.

Every day is take your kids to the park and leave them there day...in fact, they can find their own way to the park ;P and I live in a very big city...which is statistically safer than it was when I was a kid.

I rather like it. My daughter is only 3, so she's a bit young for this and I don't know if we have it here. Although, around where I live, most kids 7 and up are at the playground and running around the park with friends without parents.

I forgot about it and scheduled DD for a haircut at 11:00, so apparently we won't. But she goes to the park by herself all the time anyway, so ... (She's 9, turning 10 in August; we live in Toronto, Canada.)

I think it's great that someone came up with this idea, but sad that they had to ...
