Why did my daughter cry when she first saw her father?

When I was 5 months pregnant, I decided to leave my bf. He didn't show any sign of interest to be a father and to avoid a long life of drama I just ended it there. It was the most depressing 9 months of my life, but I knew it would be better in the long run.

I had my baby and things got a lot better. I always had my ex on my mind but I also thought that if he didn't bother to call or even show up why should I care. Around April he messaged my cousin (they use to be friends before I met him) and asked how I was, but she was very brief and just told him that I'm ok. I didn't want to leave it like that so I sent his sister a picture of my baby. She then invited me over her house for her husband's party.

I wasn't prepared for what I would say to him. At some point I thought I would beat him up (he's 5"0 and I'm 5"6 lol) for not being there at all. Everybody wanted to hold her and she doesn't cry with anybody. At some point his sister asked me if she can takehmy daughter next door (where my ex was, at his mom's) and I said sure. She came back with her my baby sounded like she got hurt really bad and when I asked what happened she told me that her dad just held her! That she handed her to him and then she looked up and him was instantly terrified! She has NEVER behaved like that with anybody, especially meeting for the first time. And to this very day I've wondered why.

I didn't end up seeing him that day, it's actually been around a year and a half since I've seen him. She's 11 months now, and all I have on my mind now is what I'm going to do for her first birthday.

But seriously my question is why did my baby cry when she saw her father for the first time!!?

Babies can sense a person's comfort level. The more uncomfortable the person holding them, the more uncomfortable the baby.

Hopefully you've gotten custody and visitation set in court.
