Why does my 4 month old only eat 2-3 ounces at a time?

Remember, too, that babies go through periods of growth "spurts" and "slow downs" that can drastically change their appetites. It could be that your son is in a slow growing phase and just doesn't need as much food. As long as he continues to gain weight (even if it's not that much) and he's eating regularly (even if it's not that much) I wouldn't worry about it. Be prepared, though, for a growth spurt soon--then you might not be able to fill him up! : )

Keep a food journal of when he is eatting and how long apart he is eatting to see if the time has changed in any way. At 4 months he will only be able to eat between 4-6 ounces every 4 hours and if he is eatting before 4 hours he will not be abel to eat much. Also if you have tried solids early this will have an affect on his appetite.
Just keep an eye on your son and particularly his weight. If he is growing and putting on weight don't worry if he is not then may be a quick trip to the doctors is in order.
