Why is a good bedtime routine for children so important?

I agree, and it also gives me mommy time. If I dont get a hour or two to myself, I become a very grumpy mama!lol

Basically it's because children tend to settle much more easily if you're not springing bedtime on them as a surprise.

If you consistently do bath, jammies, teeth, story, bed, then both their bodies and their brains remember that order, and prepare themselves for bed. It just makes things much easier overall, really.

I think it just makes things so much easier for everyone!! When the child knows what to expect, they tend to have less problems doing it. And for us parents, is makes it easier to get them to go to bed when the children know what is going to happen....ie bath, brush teeth, read a book, sing a song, then bed....It's just easier for everyone!!
