Children not only develop depression, anger and the desire to committ suicide or harm themselves, occassionally they really have a case of intermittent rage disorder which can only be diagnosed and treated by a psychiatrist. Sorry, but in my 53 years I've met few angry children who have that clinical diagnosis and the truth is that the parent isn't listening to what the child is saying, or they are trying to change it and/or the child(ren). It is really hard to see and admit our part in creating the anger they feel, but 9 out of 10 we, the parents are to blame.
We are also guilty of teaching our children to communicate poorly and deal with anger poorly. OK when I was growing up we didn't have forums and articles to learn better parenting from but todays parents don't have that as a valid excuse. So do both of you a favor, see the psychiatrist for evaluation and be sure to listen attentively to everything he tells you, both the psychiatrist and you angry son. Almost always there is a reason we do not see or hear, and we are contributing to the problem in some way. Peace & Love be with you
