i would say it is Night Terrors. 2 of my kids have night terrors. my now 10 year old only gets them now when he is really really tired, but my 3 year old wakes up screaming with them. there really isn't anything to do unfortunately. i just take him out of bed and cuddle him as best i can (he is usually really agitated and trying to fight me). when they stop fighting and crying they are, really tired. it's hard to watch

Sometimes they cause pain before they start to bump out. Gabby has been teething all week and none are bumped yet.
If he is lactose intolerant and on soy based formula or soy milk, that itself can cause a lot of gas pains and bind him up. How often does he have a bowel movement? Everyone should have one movement for every meal.

Could be night terrors, he's about the right age for them. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to help if it is night terrors. Here is a link for additional info that might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_terro...

I really feel for you - my youngest just turned 2 and she has been having these off and on for the last month or so - it seems to be worse if she is overtired when she goes to bed, but that isn't always the case.

My oldest had the same issue when she was around 2 1/2 and it resolved itself in a couple of months (she is 3 1/2 now).

How many teeth does he have? My daughter will be 2 in december and she just started getting her final molars.
