My daughter has been running fever for 5 days off and on at times it is 103 to 104 and if its not she has low grade 100.1. I took her to the doc yesterday she has no ear ache, no stomach ache, no nothing only the fever.doc ran some test blood, urine, swab to the throut and nose. Today we went back for the results and he had no known reason why she is running the fever other than her liver count is elevated but wanted me to watch her fever and come back in a week if she is still running fever so he can run some more test he wants to check her liver count in a month. But I am worried and want to know why she is running fever I feel like that waiting could cause more damage like all this advil when she is running high temp what is that doing to her liver.Am I over reacting and should do as the doc says.

Have u been giving her Tylenol for her fever? If so that may be why her liver enzymes were high. Acetaminophen is the main ingredient in Tylenol & if u have been using that for a few days for the fever it can cause elevated liver enzymes. It doesn't take much tylenol for that to happen especially for a young child. If she continues with the fever you can use ibuprofen & tylenol both. For example you wld be giving her medication say every 4 hours but you wld use tylenol first then in 4 hours use ibuprofen & so on & so forth. This way she isn't getting too much acetaminophen which will keep her liver enzymes lower & since a fever usually indicates inflammation the ibuprofen will help that as well.

I am a nurse but I learned this tip as a mom with 2 boys that had frequent ear infections & upper respiratory infections before I became a nurse. Of course I wld always check with your Dr before changing anything.

I hope this information helps you & I hope that your little one feels better soon. Remember to use your mothers intuition & if u feel u need a 2nd opinion then get one. There is nothing wrong in doing so. Even if the next Dr tells you exactly what the 1st Dr told you it will at least give you peace of mind. :)

get a second opinion from a different doctor if you arent satisfied with the current one. are you sure your child isnt teething?
