how old is the baby? and yes, like Jane said, babies cry because that is their only form of communicating they need something, food, diaper change, a burp, a fart, more clothes on, more clothes off.
I am not buying the "my baby likes crying" unless we are talking about a whiney toddler who realizes that is how they get what they want, not always what they need.

Crying is a babies way of saying "I want something." As a mom you need to figure out what that is. Have you tried going for a walk? Carrying your baby in a sling next to your body? Does she need changing? Is she bored? Does she have gas?
With that said, my first child cried a huge amount and nothing could soothe her. It turned out that she was born with an incomplete immune system and so was in almost constant pain in her abdomen and in her ears from constant infection. We discovered what the cause was when she was 2 1/2 because a new pediatrician decided to think out of the box. We put her on prophylactic antibiotics and she immediately became a sunny, cheerful child.
The question is also, is she crying a lot more than other babies that you know? If so, then you might want to try a different doctor to see what health related possibilities there might be.
