Why won't my 2 yr old grand child talk?

My grand daughter is almost 2 years old and she hardly says anything. She grunts and points or even goes to what she wants. Is there someone out there that can help with this?

Someone is answering her every grunt, by knowing or guessing what she wants without her uttering a word. Try not giving her what she wants without her at least saying the item's name. Worked like a charm on my granddaughter, now I wish I could get her to stop talking. She will be 13 in Jan. LOL

I would have her hearing checked and rule out anything medical by the age of 18mths they should be putting sentences together, i would try anything to encourage her to talk read a book with her about animals and the noises they make and see if she can't follow along making animal noises, if she is delayed it is important to find out the situation now so she can see a speech pathologist before she gets into school. That way you can get a jumpstart, good luck to you:)
