Well that's probably what's happening she's learning something new and that always changes sleep patterns because they want to "practice", what she masters it she should return to normal.

Thank you for responding. She used to go to sleep around 8pm and go through the night but since shes grown a little now and a little older shes decided shes not keen on sleeping at night. She has 2 naps in the day and they are always around the same time every day, just recently shes started with the drinking her milk, then starts to play with her dummy, trying to lift herself up, sometimes she manages it then she flops onto her tummy and buries her head and moving about. Its quite tiresome when shes so tired but fighting it and crying cos she doesnt know what to do.

I had to do the math but at 8 1/2 months it's still normal for kids to wake to eat, some kids don't sleep through the night till they are two. Is she crying when she's tossing and turning? If not I would just let her be she's probably just unwinding from the day.
