Why won't my ten year old daughter stop crying?

My daughter has been crying for almost five days. She just wants to lay on the couch and has moments when she just "melts down". The crying spells last for less than 5 minutes, but it breaks my heart. My husband and I have covered all the bases....ie. fight w/friends; bullying; good touch/bad touch, everything. I'm ready to take her to counselling.
I read some older posts about the same thing, just wondering how long it will last. My daughter wants to know how long this will last as well. She has no explanation for why she feels this way! I think it's hormones, Thanks, in advace for any advice or information.

I have a ten year old girl who is in major hormonal flux also!! She can go from the depths of despair, to an almost "manic" behavior to angry and/or argumentative in like, 15-20 min time!
I'm hoping if it's starting early, maybe it will taper off early?
I don't know how to make it stop, but if you find out how to control prepubescent girls hormones, I want that info!!
Seriously tho, after we rule out all the things that can be helped or changed, I have mine go have some private time by herself to read or write down how she feels. Sometimes a little quite intospective helps my daughter to either figure it out or at least settle down.

It's now 12/1/15
The hormone rages DO calm down, thank god! I've learned in these last few years, to just listen as objectively as you can and don't assume. I've also learned that a lot of girls do self harm, usually for peer attention. Talk to your girls about it early and help you hem figure alternatives. My girl got really upset when she found out a friend had been cutting herself and that's hard.
Anyway, that's my update!
