my son is two and a half, looks at pictures of his Daddy and now is asking to go to Daddy's house to see him. He is aware that other children have a Mommy and a Daddy through daycare and some must have divorced parents where dad has part custody so the children visit dad. I guess my son sees himself as those kids

You can teach your son that there are many different kinds of families. Some have a mommy and a daddy, some have only one or the other, some kids live with grandparents, etc. You can explain that his daddy wanted to be with you both, but that he died. If his daddy was buried, maybe your son would like to visit the cemetery. A lot of his reactions depend on your reactions. If you act like that's just the way it is, then he will get the idea and move past it. But if you're visibly upset (I know, it's hard not to be), then he'll be more upset. While it is good to have other male role-models in his life, you shouldn't worry about trying to have someone "replace" his father. He'll be okay.

oh, honey, that's tough for you! I am so sorry for your loss, and proud of you for being the strong momma that you are!

Do you have any male relatives that could help with that void? Your son is old enough now to start learning that Daddy is with the Angels (or whatever your belief system is), and that he's got his own personal Guardian Angel in his Daddy.

Good luck with all, my dear!
