Will infant sleep habits continue into childhood?

My 7 month old son is a fantastic sleeper. He goes to bed at night without a fuss and sleeps 12-13 hours a night. He also enjoys two good naps a day. I'm wondering if he sleeps this well at a young age, should I expect this to continue when he is older? Or is this just a phase that I should be enjoying while it lasts?

First of all, congratulations on your little sleeper!!

However, I must warn you, from personal experience as well as from those around me, that will probably not continue into childhood. At this age, infants need the sleep to grow. As time goes on, children will gradually require less sleep.

However, enjoy it while your baby is still having this routine. That does not mean that sleep habits will be bad, just less. Do prepare yourself for when he gets sick or is teething, though...

Good luck!
