I am currently 15 weeks preggers and have been diagnosed with chronic Migraines that come everyday and last all day unless I take meds I was diagnosed almost 2 yrs ago and i take 75 mg 2x a day of Morphine I never feel any effect like feeling woosey or high all I feel from the meds is a honest the GOD pain relief and I am grateful. I also take my prenatal vitamins daily and I am very afraid of my child being born with withdrawal. Every single tests I have taken so far is normal and her heart beats is very strong like 160 beats per min. They have found nothing to show so far that she's interacting with the meds or anything harmful and I feel blessed..Has anyone been on Morphine their entire pregnancy or at least the later half?

Short answer, maybe not. You really should discuss this with your doctor, because there is a high chance your baby will be born with withdrawal, and you should try and discuss other options with your doctor.

Morphine has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. No increased risk of congenital malformations in humans has been associated with use of morphine in pregnancy. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Morphine should only be given during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.

Chronic use of morphine in later pregnancy has been associated with neonatal withdrawal. Neonatal withdrawal syndrome presents as irritability, hyperactivity and abnormal sleep pattern, abnormal crying, tremor, vomiting diarrhea and subsequent weight loss or failure to gain weight, and may result in death. The onset, duration and severity of neonatal withdrawal syndrome varies based on the drug used, duration of use, dose of last maternal use, and rate of elimination by the newborn. Neonatal respiratory depression is possible when morphine is used in labor.
