I'm not sure how far is my son involved in this case but he is a very intelligent young man and I do not want to ruin his future. I took his phone last night and sow a message from some friends of his that have bought seeds to plant marihuana. I'm freeking out and not sure what to do? Should I contact the police so they can follow these kids tomorrow and catch them? Again, not sure how involved my son is since he is acting surprised.

Don't know what country you're in but in the UK, possession of the seeds is not an offence.

Actually GROWING the seeds is more hazardous (if you grow the plant successfully - not everyone has green fingers though!!). Generally people who grow their own marijuana do so to save paying the exhorbitant prices charged by dealers. However, the Police regard it as "cultivating a cannabis plant with intent to supply and make a profit." So the successful gardener runs the risk of getting charged with being a dealer. A charge for dealing is always worse than a charge for possession.

The law is a little easier on people who grow the plant in order to use it to alleviate various chronic illnesses, but it remains an offence.

At this stage though, it's NOT an offence to have the seeds in one's possession.

To be honest, I wouldn't even report this to the Police. Find out how the Law stands on seeds in your country. Then discuss it with the other parents.

If your son is involved, then yes he can. However, maybe he needs to be if he is doing something illegal and a discussion with him doesn't have any effect. How old is he?
