Will my son ever recognise me

My son is a year old and he still doesn't recognise anybody. Also he does not have social smile. He just smiles at moving objects and follows them in all directions. He was born with weak wind pipe for which he has undergone tracheostomy and is still on naso-gastric feed because he has secretions and has breathing problem. Apart from this, he has profound hearing loss. He has been diagnosed with developmental delay. He cannot sit up or roll over. He just likes to keep lying down straight. I am concerned when will my baby start recognising me.

That sounds really hard. But don't give up or be disheartened I'm sure deep down he knows who you are. Spend lots of time with him. Read, play with puppets anything just to get one on one time he. I spent a lot time in hospital with a baby with similar problems. No one visited him poor little guy. I spent a lot of time with him until I moved into a different area. He became almost like a brother. A friend of mine had some issues as a baby too and had to be fed like this. You wouldn't know now that she was a sick baby. She's been in the navy. She's married now with a beautiful little girl of her own. They own their house. He may have a slow start. Even if he doesn't show it I'm sure he knows who you are and loves his mummy. Give him enough time and he'll begin to show you :)
