Wireless internet potentially dangerous to kids health?

Ok, so there are studies showing that overuse of mobile phones are not good for us. But how about wireless internet? Doesn't it work on the same principle? Has anyone came across info or a study on that topic? Thanks :)

I think if we want to get overanalytical, everything is potentially harmful to our children. We can blame wireless technology, but what about your gas heating, your microwave, the TV (or more than 1 in most homes), the fumes from the car, the neighbours cigarette smoke, the water we drink, the food we eat, the sun, the air we breathe, the sunblock, the chemcials used to make the clothes we wear.......the list is endless and unavoidable. I don't see wireless internet as any more dangerous than any of the other items.

However, there have been some unsubstantiated studies done and it is SUGGESTED that it MAY cause some level of memory loss but there is no scientific validation of this. It IS suggested that it is much safer than a mobile phone (for the reasons spelled out by Michelle).

actually anna was just wondering about it, she never said she wanted to make a decision for her family about it. and i'm not just assuming here, she replied saying she was just wondering.

I grew up in a wifi environment, I'm fine. my daughter is and has been growing up in a wifi environment, shes fine. same with my son.

If you want to shelter your kids from wifi, then they shouldn't go outside. At all. not to play, not to go to the store with you, not to go to daycare or to grandma's. Because I guarantee you there's wifi. Don't get a smartphone. They have wifi capabilies. Go live on a farm where the nearest house is 3 miles away from you, that's a guestimated range for wifi.

The only possible way to prevent our kids and ourselves from technology now days, is probably to live like the Amish.

No cars, no lights, no light sockets, no tv, no internet, no computers, no cell phones, no home phones, no microwaves.

Yes it is dangerous. We turn ours off at night, we block radiation coming form pge smart meters, dont take cells to bed, no microwave in our home and I wear a radiation protective apron while using the computer as I'm pregnant. I first noticed the effect of EMF when we were living for over a year with no electronics except a fridge, juicer and lights, and moved back to the states where we are overloaded. As you probably are already aware children are so much more vulnerable to EMF, other countries have been admitting for years that cells are causing brain tumors.

You need to make the decision what's best for your family. We cannot be without internet as we use it for work. But we can easily do without a microwave and going to bed with cell phones, and our alarm clock is battery powered. We're in a condo so we cannot do anything about the smart meters but because there are some things out of our control doesn't mean we should give up and not care about the things that are in our control.

Electromagnetics have decreasing effect proportional to the square of the distance from the source. In other words, wifi an arms length away has far, far less effect than a cell phone or bluetooth in the ear.

Girls, the thing is , cell phones are harmful when we use them.As far as I know. If they are on standby , they are not doing much damage. It's the waves that they emit WHILE IN USE. About the wireless internet it works on similar principle,no? Waves. And since the newborn bed lays in between the WLan rooter and the PC , it makes sense that if I use it , the waves will be going through the baby. We have mobiles for awhile , that's why there are more studies on them. And wireless is still new compared. This is why I am asking...

What you fear, you draw to yourself. So if you fear health problems from a wireless connection, you invite it to come.

To neutralize this kind of energy you can purchase and place a clear quartz crystal on the wireless modem. You can program the crystal to remove all harmful energies.

No my children will not be in the public school system. I understand how much easier it is to use microwaves and having systems intertwined but these are not things that are insurmountable. The information I provided is in no way a demand on what you should do in your house or an attack on anyone and the only part directed to you personally is the information in response about schools being sued & agencies protecting children in schools in other countries.

My responses are to ANNA asking questions to people that have come across info on this topic, so that she can make informed decisions for her family.

The things you do in your home may be easy in your opinion but are virtually impossible in mine. I am also not willing nor could I live without a microwave especially doing home daycare and all kids lunches needing to be microwaved daily.
My WIFI can not be shut off without shutting down my home phone system and internet as they are all connected into our home by one box.
Sorry but I can not cover my outlets with foil nor would I be willing because young children and animals would ingest it.

Question do your children go to school?? If they do they will be subjected to WIFI virtually daily for school work. Will you allow them to still attend school with WIFI, microwaves (a lot in the actual classrooms), and outlets that are never covered?

@ Joanna:

I have a sign on my wall that says , " Anyone who has ever walked barefoot into a child's room at night hates Leggos"

Personally I think it is ridiculous to live in a bubble and worry about every little thing in this world that COULD harm us. I prefer to live my life without being scared and afraid of every little thing. Well interesting enough kids are required to use internet for their school and even in schools. Plus they almost always have homework on line nightly. I seriously doubt there is really that much cause for concern.

Wireless internet is actually worse than cells because it operates at a higher frequency. That and in most households it's always on and have you noticed when you connect you may have a dozen other wireless internet options that are reaching you.

I commend you looking further into this as it's foolish to ignore. EMF has been shown to cause childhood leukemia, brain tumors, breast cancer, many more diseases that should not be taken likely or scoffed at.

Mercola has a site dedicated to EMFs
http://emf.mercola.com/

I highly recommend Mike Adams site...
http://www.naturalnews.com/index-HRartic...

While you work on protecting yourselves from EMF as much as you can, please consider this article. If you want to talk more about it please PM me as it's a topic that looks like will not be received well here....
http://www.naturalnews.com/032179_Fukush...

Thought I'd mention that we cover our outlets that are no in use with heavy foil. It's by far not attractive but from speaking to representatives at companies that sell EMF protecting gadgets.... Foil is an inexpensive way to add some protection. Polyester clothing attracts EMF, so natural fibers are best, you can find this info all over the internet. Also read that wool can protect against EMF but I have had a difficult time finding that information again.

Sorry you haven't received a very good response. You would probably get a better response posting in one of the alternative parenting forums, like alternative birth & mothering.

Again I welcome you to message me if you have any questions or just need a mom that's understanding to talk to, it can be a lonely road.

Well it never occurred to me and honestly doesn't even register on my radar for something to worry about neither does cell phone use, microwave use or anything else I use in my home either.

If it does, you and your children won't be growing extra toes or anything. The way wireless Internet works is through an antenna that receives the signals - since it's no where NEAR your face/head/etc. like a cell phone is, there would be very few side effects. This just sounds like the latest scare tactic. I wouldn't be worried.

"Check out Dr. Mercola's online reports on the dangers of electromagnetic radio waves (sources include baby monitors)"

If we listened to everything Dr Mercola had to say we'd all have to live in a bubble, because that guy thinks everything kills you except his vitamin supplements.

As with all things, one must use wireless internet (or even wired internet) in moderation. I have never heard anything about wireless affecting the brain, but the content of the internet certainly does.

Yes, I think it is harmful. But I think the cell phone tower down the street is probably more harmful, you can only do so much.

Getting out of bed in the morning is potentially dangerous! lol This morning when I woke up I discovered that my daughter left a rather small and very hard toy on my bedroom floor... my foot still hurts!

I agree Jodi. One week this is dangerous next week it will be something else. The only way we'd all be "safe" would be to live in the middle of nowhere with no electricity or any of our mod cons. Live off the land so we know exactly what we are eating and not socialize at all.

You don't hold your wireless modem up to your head to use it like a mobile phone.
The whole debate about phones is having it so close to your head all the time.
