Working out during pregnancy bad idea?

April - posted on 02/27/2014 ( 2 moms have responded )

I recently found out I am 16 weeks pregnant thanks to the depo shot, right before finding out I had made a goal to tone my behind up a bit I have been squatting without weights but I have read online that without weights you won't get a round lifted butt. Is there anything I can do during pregnancy to keep working at my goal or will my dream butt have to wait ?

It is fine while pregnant as long as you do not over do it. Make sure you limit your self also ask your doctor I actually pushed myself a bit to hard at the gym one day when i was pregnant my back began to hurt severely it didn't stop for 3 weeks my dr put me on high risk after but she told before even if you feel the slightest pain stop for a bit but make sure you ask your doctor what is a good amount for you and make sure you stick to that so you don't hurt you or your baby

It's fine to do light exercises during pregnancy. Don't just into the Insanity program or anything, but regular stuff, even with light weights, is fine.
Just make sure you listen to your body. do NOT over do it. If your body tells you to stop, stop. Keep hydrated as well.
Walking can be really good for toning up all parts of your legs and it can help you to have an easier labor as well, so that's something you may want to look into.
If you're really concerned about anything, talk to your doctor. They'll be able to tell you exactly how much is safe, any danger signs you should be aware of in your body, etc.
