Well, if there is something that is applicable to this situation and he isn't your average 20 year old, then you need to say that. You can't ask a question here based on very specific information, and then not give the information. On average 20 year olds are considered adults. You can't control their lives. I HAVE a 20 year old, so I have plenty of clue, and the fact is, you cannot control him, which is what you are trying to do. Period.

Maybe it's not so much me being rude and more about you not wanting to face the fact that you can no longer control your child's life. If there is more to "the situation", then in order to get any real advice, you are kind of going to have to share the information. Otherwise, I guarantee that no sane person is going to advocate that you can gain legal guardianship of your 20 year old.

He's 20? How can you become a 20 year old's legal guardian? Isn't he an adult? IMO, you need to let him live him live his own life. Can I be honest? If I was 20 and you were my mother and trying to control my life like this, I'd move across the country too.
