Are you talking about a specific thread you have seen?
We close threads that are 6 months or older as most of them have been answered. You are always welcome to start new ones though.
We also close threads when they get put of hand and people are getting off topic or fighting. There's no need to come here and tell us how to moderate.
Just closing a thread to comments, doesn't mean people can't read through them and get answers.
Are you going to take over and run the site?

BTW: We are just Moderators here, not management. We do what we can to keep the topics up to date. We can't merge topics or threads.
If you have ideas you should contact the management, not just post it in the communities.

You can always browse any discussion, and read through threads that interest you. They are not deleted, they are closed which means you can still search for a specific word and a myriad of threads will pop up. If it is an old thread, you are more than welcome to start a new thread on the same topic. We get hundreds of posts daily, and many members will pull up threads from 4+ years ago that are no longer relevant. There is no need to keep old threads open. Instead create a new one.

Nothing stops anyone from searching for topics and reading closed threads.

If they have an issue that they still need additional help with after reading the available threads, then they can open a new one, as Michelle already said.

That is the way these forums operate.

There are some topics that can stay for ever. i mean there are sibiling rivalry, exploring pvt objects at 9 months etc. obviously , you can merge the similar topic threads but should not close the thread. it's not making sense after 6 months some one starts same topic again and gives new perspectives to the centuries old problems and exploring soln. not just bulldog fighting but useful articles for real moms. i suggest you seggregate topics under kids behaviour, kids rearing, adult problems due to kid rearing or innovative easy ways to bring up kids so that nobody blames you -- like looser due to his moms upbringing . i noticed a discussion a nany thought the babys behaviour of handling pvt parts is looking after his dads behaviour? if so sibling rivalry is due to parents fighting or d.v? though most of the kids activities are normal, enhancing their behaviour through activities do help them apart from examblary living not acting. illiterates and educated fools(out of generation) people makes mistakes by terming normal babies as rude, rough, tough, naughty etc. so its goo, if sensitive topic stays for ever.
