1 year old only sleeps in her crib

Ok so I know I'm going to probably sound crazy and a lot of moms will tell me that I should be happy about this(which I am), but I have a couple concerns.....my daughter won't sleep with me unless she is sick and only sleeps in her crib.



My 13 month old daughter is and has always been such a wonderful sleeper(which I am very grateful for don't get me wrong) but only sleeps in her crib. Believe me, I am grateful that she sleeps so well on her own and all, but my concern is what happens when we want to go camping or something like that. She is very independent when it comes to sleeping and doesn't sleep with me unless she is sick. She'll sleep at night in a pack n play when we stay somewhere, but not real well and definitely won't nap in one. My husband and I plan to do some stuff this summer and early fall like sleep on our boat, go camping etc. and am nervous what it's going to be like when it's time to go to sleep. Is this normal behavior and has anyone else experienced this?



Also, will my daughter ever sleep/take a nap with me again like she used to when she was an itty bitty baby...I miss the sleepy snuggle time :-(

Emma- so this morning she did the exact same thing your son did. Woke up crying(which she never does) and actualy wanted to cuddle in bed with me. She even feell asleep for another 45 minutes to an hour. Definitely hasn't done that on forever....I was shocked! Wondering if she had a bad dream or something. Definitely enjoyed the cuddle time :-) We'll see how things go when it's time to sleep somewhere away from home.

Even though it will still be somewhat different, put as much stuff from her cib into the pack n play. Wrap her sheet around the mat part, and put her blanket and stuffed animal (if she has one) in there with her. Use stuff straight from her crib (not washed) so it all smells familiar. It still will be some tough nights, but being surrounded by familiar things does help a little. Honestly, even as adults, most have problems sleeping in unfamiliar places, I know I do.

I got a piece of foam cut for the porta cot (same thing as a pack adn play i assume) so it would be more comfortable. he sleeps much better on it and i wish i did it a year ago! we travel a lot lol those cots are so uncomfortable.

My son is very particular about where he sleeps! Unless he is dead tired, he won't sleep anywhere but his own crib! It makes me happy but on the other hand, it is a pain when we go somewhere and I can't get him to sleep because he wants his bed! If I were you, I would just put up a play-pen/pack & play and see if you can get her to take a nap in it once a day or so. Maybe let her cry it out and she will get used to it eventually so that it's not such a pain when you do sleep elsewhere.

My daughter is the same way. When it comes to vacation, you can take the pack & play or air mattress. You'll just have to tough it out. I'm usually exhausted from vacation. She sleeps crappy, which means I also sleep crappy because we share a room. Last year, I tried putting her in the bed w/ me but she kept falling out. In the end, I was on the floor sharing a twin sized air mattress with her! :-/ LOL.

My son is exactly the same. He won't sleep in our bed but gets all excited and wants to play and won't nap anywhere but his own bed in the dark. I put him in our bed at 530 this morning because he wouldn't stop crying and he ended up sleeping until 745 it was so good.
