My baby is on a crazy schedule a couple days of the week due to my school schedule. My grandmother doesn't make him take his naps..so when he is with me he fights his SLEEP really HARD. i want to reinforce my scheduling..so do i let him cry it out? i have heard this causes mistrust??

I also recommend How to Solve your Child's Sleep Problems by Richard Ferber. But I also agree with some of the other ladies, you can't expect more from your baby than what you can provide. If he isn't on a regular schedule and isn't getting naps, he is going to be overtired and fight sleep. I'd try to get him on a regular schedule or you're never going to get him to go to bed whether you sleep train or not.

If you can get the book by Dr ferber It will teach you how to to do the cry it out method properly its a wonderful book, I got it as a gift for my baby shower, I read it before I even gave birth to my daughter its great at teaching you about a childs sleep patterns and only uses the cry it out as a last resort. My daughter is 13 weeks old today and she sleeps all night and has since about week 4 :) so because we started early I hope we wont ever have to use the cry it out method.

So i've let my almost 7 month old son cry himself 2 sleep since day one! Now he knows its bath time, book, bottle, and then bed! He doesn't even cry anymore! I also put music on when he lays down for bed! I do believe i'd ask your grandmother if she could lay him down tho!

The only thing I can tell you is to make a bedtime routine. Make it at least 15-20 min long. that way you are doing things that he associates with sleep. Mine was bath,sing and cuddle, then in the crib with favorite teddybear, then classical music played softly. Even now if my teenager is having trouble sleeping, I'll put on soft classical music and she's out. Just do the same thing every night and It will work sooner than you think!

I would say before you do anything else you need to ask your grandmother to keep to the same schedule as you, and make sure he takes his naps at a regular time as its unfair on him to be confused between 2 different expectations.
