He only wants to nurse! I have tried over and over to get him to eat food and he refuses! He fights me and cries until I give up and nurse him. I am worried about the whole 'starve him and he will eat method'. I do not want him to get dehydrated. He won't drink from a bottle/sippy/cup either! I have bought so many sippys it isn't even funny. I have been trying with him since 5 months. Help! I'm trying to wean him completely yet I just wis I could get him to eat. He will taste it sometimes but spit it all out. I'm at a loss. If you have any ideas how to get him to eat food I would really appreciate it! i am also trying to get him to put himself to sleep without nursing! He is a nursing addict I think!lol thank you for your help.

I breast fed for 2.5 years and my son benefited sooooo much from the bonding and the nutrition. Get rid of the bottle and forget about feeding him cerials and fruits for now. My son went from breastmilk to chicken....well not that drastic....but he never got into jarred food.....organic whole foods smashed and blended about 1.5 years. He is very healthy and has an awesome Immune system from all the breast milk!

Personally I would just continue to nurse him. He's obviously not ready to wean so why rush it? You could continue to offer solids but until he's ready you’re just going to continue to struggle with it. He's getting all the nutrients and hydration from your breast milk which is great! One day he'll start eating solids. Good luck!

Well laura it sounds like he isnt ready to yet. Just be patient and keep trying he will eventually get it. But you could always ask your pediatrician about ways to help him. They should help you with the problem and might not like whats in the cup mine does that when she doesn't like the juice. Hang in there he will eventually get there

He just sounds like he's not ready. My kid started eating pureed food at 5 months and then by like... 12 he was off eating and just randomly munching things and spitting it out and throwing it off the high chair tray and not actually ingesting much food at all. He has continued to gain weight and he looks hydrated and healthy, don't stress too much about it.

He's obviously not ready for solids. Just keep on breastfeeding him and don't worry about it. He's getting all his nutrients as it is. None of my 3 daughters were interested in solids before about 12 months of age - they've all grown into healthy young women!

Just nurse him. He is getting everything he needs from your milk. I wouldn't worry too much about solids until after age 1 or so. Really, don't fret about it. Just think of it this way.. you're saving money on food ;) lol

Yeah I try the fruits but he just spits it out. the most he will actually swallow is peach yogurt! He tried the straw sippy again today and he knows how to suck it out, but he won't swallow it! So he ends up wet!

Hi laura! I ahd the same problem with my daughter. It is probabnly the taste of the baby food you could try the fruit and I know she likes the organics over gerber food. But the nursing before you put him to bed what I did with my daughter is I fed her about an hour earlier and let her play then stuck her in her crib he will cry but just check on him evry 5 or 10 minutes and doing that for a while will get him into a routine and then he wont fight you any more. I hoope it helps you out
