My son is 11 years old and has a girlfriend in his class. They text to each other all the time and I think she is a little more advanced (if you know what I mean) then he is. I feel I need to step in and have a conversation with her mother. What do you think???

As the mom of an eleven year old girl, I implore you to have a conversation with her mom.
My child was texting boys, but we only just caught her. She had all these fake girl names on her contact list. My husband called some of the numbers and boys answered the phone. He told them to quit texting his daughter. We have taken her phone away- indefinitely.

t Block any texting from her phone to his. If this doesn't work don't allow any texting. He is 11 and lets be real. Does he really need a cell phone? I would talk to her parents as well.

gah I just re-read what I wrote - when I said to not blame your son for anything - I meant to her parents if it should come down to that.
Its kind of like a car accident - never say you're sorry and never take the blame.
The situation will probably never go legal - but people are NUTS these days.

Thank you Sharon for your advise. I do read his texts often and I did confront the girl with a text that simply says to stop texting him after 6pm and no sexy talk or I will go to your mom. So we will see, but I appreciate you taking the time to share with me your experience. I will though talk to my son about sexting, very important. Thanks again.

A girl my son was texting sent him a picture of herself in bra & panties - I read the texts leading up to it - it was definitely her idea and I was PISSED. I knew her aunt and I forwarded the picture to her and gave a warning. I talk to my son about it, going to jail, being labeled a pervert (which I think is wrong btw for just recieving a picture) and then I trashed his phone and got a new one.
The girls' parents are in denial - they didn't want to see the picture and believed their daughter when she said her friend did it. Um, how did her friend get access to their daughters' cellphone when she was in vietnam visiting family???
I can't block individual numbers but I made it no fun for her text him anymore by answering her texts randomly with comments like "if you were my daughter I'd ground you for two weeks for texting after 10pm - go to sleep or I'll call your aunt."
Gently try to talk her parents. Don't lay all the blame on their daughter, just suggest they talk to her about things that are appropriate and maybe they should read her texts. And don't blame your son for anything. Its going to be a delicate dance of words to not piss them off.
