my daughter is 12 months old soon to be 13 months old and we have never really had a problem with her sleeping, I'm just trying to get her to sleep in longer. she is usually fast asleep by 7:15, 7:30 at the latest and usually sleeps to 6:30 or 7. Her room is pretty dark she has black out blinds and curtains, we try to keep her up later but she is dragging around 6:30 it's sometimes hard to hold her off until 7 to go to bed. she has been in this exact routine since she was about 2 and a half months old. just curious if there is anyway to try and get her to stay asleep until 8. were not morning people in this house lol :)

She probably won't sleep until 8am...most babies sleep clocks wake up around 6-7am. If someone has a kid that sleeps later they are the exception. Keeping them up later will make no difference.

My daughter sleeps until nine. I don't let her take a nap after 5 p.m.
she normally takes a nap around 1 p.m. for about a couple of hours. After she wakes up we play. Just try to keep her occupied till a later time, and hopefully that will work. GOOD LUCK!!!

I hear ya! We aren't morning people either. I honestly think that since it's her natural rhythm, it's going to be harder to change it. What I've heard sleep experts recommend, namely Jodi Mindell (head of the national sleep institute or whatever in PA) is to modify the sleep schedule gradually over a period of time. So, in this case, slowly push back her bedtime by 5 or 10 minutes for several days, then again by another 5 or 10 minutes, etc, until you get her to bed later and therefore up later. This may or may not work, as some people are just early risers.

She's too young for this now, but when she's older, maybe 3 or 4, you can have a clock in her room that has stickers on where the hands need to be for her to get up. That way she can play in her room if she wakes before that, but she won't come out of her room until 8am (or whatever you decide works best.

In our house, we have the opposite issue. My daughter's natural schedule is bed at 11pm and up at 11am, and it was that way in the womb as well. My husband is like that, too. My son, on the other hand, has always been more an up at 8am kinda guy. So far, my 3 week old seems to like to sleep in the mornings as well.
