16 month old poops A LOT...allergies???

How often does a normal child poop? I realize that this is totally gross, but we're all Moms, so by now poop is not as wierd a thing anymore! I babysit a 16 month old boy. He poops 3-4 times a day, just during the time that I have him (7:30-5:30)!! It's always pretty soft and loose...not full fledged diarhia, but never a real solid. I really think he must have some kind of food allergy. I just worry that he doesn't feel good...He was a really easy and calm baby, but has become a cranky toddler in the past 6 months or so. He cries/fusses way more than his sister or my daughter, and he doesn't sleep very good. Do any of your kids have food allergies that cause these types of symptoms?

PS: I know that ultimately a doctor would need to diagnose him, but I want to know if this seems like an allergy before I approach his mom about getting him checked out. Thanks for you help!!

does he drink a lot of milk? When my daughter drinks to much milk or when she is going to cut new teeth we get the diarhea she doesn't sleep as well cause she poops when she sleeps and then wants it changed now.
