My son is turning 1 on the 8th & I have no clue what to do for his Birthday party. Does anyone have any ideas or pointers? I have never thrown a birthday party before.

We through a party got him the birthday pin and hat. Had all of our close family and friends probably around 30 people. Just had a cookout with a 1st birthday theme and made a cake. I feel it is a celebration of there 1st year. I think it should be celebrated and enjoyed by every person that loves them as well.
P.S. they don't get overwhelmed. They just play and do everything as they normally do as long as they get there naps. I usually would do cake and presents earlier and put kids in for nap after and just enjoy the guests.

My son turns one at the end of November and we're just gonna have a small family tea with my mam, sister, nana and granda. He's not going to remember it so it seems pointless throwing a big party and also he would get tired after an hour or two!

If you start your child off with a circus for his first birthday just think what he/she will expect when they are turning 16 years old. LOL just a thought.

Small and simple. Close family and a few close friends gathering together for a bbq or potluck, cake, and a few presents is a perfect way to celebrate the first bday (or, IMO, EVERY bday).

Invite grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close family friends. Make a cake. Buy some ice cream (we like to make it, but it's easier to buy). Put some cokes and bottled water in an ice chest (juice boxes if you expect kids). You might want to get some chips and dip, but not necessary. Get some cute plates, napkins, cups, spoons and forks from the dollar store. Throw up a birthday banner. Call it a success!

BBQ with family makes sense to me too. Anything too big will overwhelm your child.

We would have a bbq with the family, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. After dinner we would do the birthday cake for desert. Then we would do presents. It was always great fun to have the family over for a bbq....we did that often.

Keep it simple and small he's not going to remember any of it. Invite a couple of close friends and family, get a cake and have a small party. Anything more could become overwhelming for your little one!
