My little girl was born October 26th, her first birthday is approaching fast. I love the fall season and Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday. I want her first birthday to be special even though the chance of her remembering it is slim. I am trying to decide if I should do the whole "1st birthday" theme or if I can use a Halloween theme and have a dress-up/costume party for her birthday. I am trying to not let my affection for Halloween cloud my judgement, but I can picture all the babies showing up in their little costumes and all of the great photo opportunities. Any thoughts?

My little guys 1st B-Day is October 14th & i'm already starting to plan ahead!

I'm in the same boat as you , where Hubby & I LOVE halloween!

We're doing a 1st B-day Costume Party!!!

No Halloween themed decorations, just taking the "costume" aspect from halloween, and intergrating it to a 1st Bday party!

All the little kiddies showing up in their costumes, super cute & great photos indeed!

My son's Birthday is in November, and I have done a 'superhero' themed party before. Kids love dressing up and Halloween is a fun time to do it. Just remember, that the 1st Birthday really is more for you than her anyway, so do something you'll enjoy. Sometimes they get a little overwhelmed anyway. I've usually just done family parties for the first birthday (grandparents, siblings, cousins, etc.) since it's a great excuse to get together as well. Have fun and I'm sure it will be adorable.

I think a Halloween themed party is cute. I've seen other moms that have done that same thing. It's her first birthday so it's all up to you. when her second birthday rolls around you can give her a choice of what she would like to do. When she gets older she will love to see all the cute pictures from her 1st birthday party. Kids this age don't care much about themes just that they have fun. go with your gut and heart on this one.

My son was born on October 12th and I did a Pirate theme. It was kind of dress up-ish since I bought pirate hats and eye patches for all the kids. And "treasure" (fake jewelery and coins). It turned out great.

Halloween theme sounds like a great and fun idea, and if your want your daughter to know what a big party you had for her first do what I did, I got it all on video camera and transferred to dvd so she has it for life. whatever you decide will be good as you only want the best for your child (who doesnt) good luck and have fun

My birthday is Oct 25th, I had plenty of Halloween themed parties growing up. I think it is a cute idea. I never did the 1st birthday theme for my kids. My son had a cars birthday and my daughter had cupcakes.

I would just try and make sure its a day for your little girl. IT would be really easy to make it feel more like a Halloween party than a 1st birthday.
