I know my daughter's first birthday is quite a bit away but I'm a planner and I have no idea what to do for her first birthday. She has a November birthday so its too cold for something simple like a cookout... And I live in an apartment that doesn't have enough space for a party..

Any Winter Babies' Moms with ideas??

Thanks!

I believe that day should be the babies day. I like small parties with just those people who are really a part of the babies life. I also think that the party should be in a familiar location like home or grandmas so the baby is comfortable.

My son isn't really a winter baby, but we took him to Chuck e Cheese.  Got some pizza brought a cake, and he rode on some of the smaller rides and played in the activity center while some of the older kids in the family played the archade games.

If you have friends with kids the same age, invite them all over at a time whrn a meal is not usually served (like 2 pm or 10 am).  Buy or make 2 cakes.  Ladyfinger cake works best for the kids because it's basically pudding in the middle.  Spread a tarp or painter's plastic on the floor.  Strip the babies to their diapers and put the cake in the middle of the tarp.  Serve the adults cake and coffee while the babies go mudding in their cake.  Take lots of pictures.  Wash the babies off in the tub before you send them home.  Fold up the tarp and put it in the trash can.  Yay!

Just let her be the princess for the day, if you want to make it special for the family you can make a video of clips from her first year showing all the things she has achieved (from first smile to first steps) or other things like that.

just remember the party is for her (which can be easy to forget with all the baby hype)

all in all first birthdays are really just glamourized play-dates.

Keep it simple... I am a mother of 4 and have learned from doing it both ways big and pricey and  small and cheap the smaller the better for the 1st birthday. You can enjoy it more and take that money and invest in something they really can us.... I am all about being able to enjoy my kid's event and not stress about all the planning....

I have 2 wimter babies and for both first birthdays we kept it really small. Our families do not live close so we have a few friends come over and watched the kids first cake smash together. Really the 1st birthday is more for us than it is for the kids.....
