I can recommend you CETAPHIL or the jhonson & jhonson's soap [ PURPOSE brand ] it's really effective. and give her a rub of VASELINE BABY petroleum jelly during the day and AVEENO lotion with chamomile during night time or bed time. my son when he was in 4-8month had a severe eczema . it's too awful seeing him crying and fuzzing because of super itchy. When my son was young he had the same problem the pediatrician said to use Aquaphor and Eucerin and mix it 50/50 and rub that on them. Both lotions are pricey but it does work.  Basically you don't want to use something with a scent it will burn on dry skin.  Hope this helps.

I use the Johnson's Baby Oil Gel... baby lotion isle at walmart/target... put in on after bath but before you dry them off... my girls love it and it keeps them nice and soft all winter... GOOD LUCK!

The safest oil to put on your babies skin is olive oil, it's safe to eat and good for the skin, it's natural and unperfumed and can be used from new borns on dry skin. It's worth a try.

Have you also thought of trying Usana's Children Multi Minerals. Sometimes it can be related to vitamin and mineral defeciences. They are called Usanimals, you can find them at www.familydreams.usana.com They have helped both my kids with eczema and they don't get sick all the time either. Thanks

I use the Aveeno Soothing Relief Moisture Cream (dark blue lid) and baby wash and its helped my son, also 21 months. He has eczema but this helps it and its specially formulated for dry skin and eczema. Also I wash his clothes seperately with a "free and clear" type soap. Dreft is great too, but more expensive.

Ahhh my, Have you tried taking her to a dermatologist or even a general practitioner. That is what I had to do with my daughter when I saw these dry patches on her skin that would not go away and we took her to the doctor and the problem was resoved with prescribed medication...her skin began to heal. Take her to the doctor to see exactly what is wrong my dear...hope this helped.

I had the same problem with my son when he was younger.  His skin got so bad and there were patches of rough dry skin everywhere.  I took him to the doctor over and over and we tried so many different prescriptions we kept the pharmacy in business.  Until we found Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream.  It is over the counter and I think it was in the natural remedies aisle.  It is expensive for over the counter but you dont have to use much and it helped tremendously.  The doctor didnt think my sons problem would get much better but now he hasnt had a problem with it since we used this lotion and his skin healed.  I still use the lotion during the dry months to prevent anything as bad as we saw before.

Hello, My daughter also has had very dry skin in areas. I had tried everything and have been told by my maternal health nurse that J & J is not good for their skin. I have seen many a doctor & one specialist reccomended "Dermveen", I swear by it but find that "pinetarsol" is wondrrful to stabilise th skin then once its settled a bit apply dermveen mornin & night. Trust me this worked wonders for me, my daughter used to scratch herself to bleed. Let me know how u go :).

Do you know what causes your little ones dry skin? Have you tried using non-toxic green household and laundry cleaners? My daughters skin was a mess until we switched cleaners at the recommendation of a friend. We switched to Shaklee's "Get Clean" line of cleaners and haven't looked back. It has been over a year andI love the cleaners. The cleaners are safe for the enviroment and my family while being powerful enough to really get my clothes clean. Try Cetaphil lotion and Aveeno bath stuff. When my oldest, 18, was younger, she had dry skin and to this day she cannot wash clothes with any perfume or dye's in them. She still has dry skin, but it's nothing like it was when she was around that age. Hope this helps.....be blessed.

I swear by Medella products.  Their 2-in-1 hair and bodywash is great and cleared up my newborn's cradle cap, and later eczema on her body.  I gently towel dried her, and kept her in 100% cotton clothing too.

Your case sounds pretty severe, so I don't know if this would help, but I tend to use extra-virgin olive oil on my son and it works quite well for dry skin...also, then I don't have to worry about additives or anything like that. I hope your baby feels much better very soon though.

Hi, Have you tried just putting almond oil in the bath water and using products with no sodium laural sulphate in them?? Most products have sodium laural sulphate in them and this is what irritates the skin. Hope this helps

do not put scented lotions on her!!! i have 2 kids with eczema why dont you try spectro-care for children its over the counter lotion for eczema and it works great you can usually get it at any pharmacy!!

My son is 2 years old and he has been getting dry patches that itch and burn since he was young. I have tried cetaphil, aquaphor, eucerin, you name it. I finally got it under control with Aveeno baby wash and lotion. It even says on the bottles for excema. It has worked great. Just make sure you use both. Hope this helps.

I'd suggest you visit your doctor if you haven't already and he might prescribe you one of the creams if you little one has eczema. If it's just a case of sensitive skin that has become dry from soaps etc then i'd suggest no soap for a while and then maybe johnsons baby top to toe wash which is really mild, poured into the bath as bubbles and not directly on the skin for extra mildness. A good moisturiser is actually olive oil - you probably have some in your cupboard right now so you wouldn't have to spend a fourtune on lotions and potions. Because it's natural the skin drinks it right up, unlike some man made products which just sit on the surface on the skin. Olive oil worked a treat for my baby when he was born with dry skin, use it at night after a bath so that it has a chance to sink in - PS) it doesn't make your baby smell like chips either x

Hi, I would baby my son, then after he is washed put babyoil (little bit) in the water then use, then pat him dry then put Aveeno Baby lotion. Its all natural its really soothing on there skin.

I use Vanicream, Eucerin, and today I got this stuff called Bag Balm to try on bad diaper rash. I've been told it's good for dry skin too. When I give my kids baths I put the soap in the water (bubble bath style) and wash them that way instead of putting it right on their skin.

my son was born with eczema and basically looked like a little alligator hydocortizone cream and ointments helped but it was weird because the oinment would only work on his body and the cream on his face.also he had to use cetaphil soap to wash with it is alittle expensive (about 3.20 a bar at walmart) but well worth it and he is 19yrs old now and still uses the soap actually my whole family does and it keeps our skin from drying out in the winter months. Good luck and I hope it helps. the dermologist also suggested Eucerin cream.

Hi. I have two young daughters with excema and we have a concoction of products. We use a prescribed Aristocort Cream )0.5% for extremely bad areas. and a cream called Dermaid for their faces which you can get over the counter at the Pharmacy. After every bath we usually lube them up in plain old Sorbelene Cream and a product called Dermeze Ointment which is just paraffin oils. It is recommended by Royal Children Hospital in Melbourne and is fantastic. Also try to use a product in their hair aswell. Shampoos suck. We use Sebitar(from the pharmacy) and it is great.

after bath, and completely dried off, apply a mixture of aquaphor and Eucerin lotion. It will be greasy b/c aquaphor is a lot like petroleum jelly, but it will NOT burn, and it will moisturize her skin. Use as often as you like, she probably has early exzema that she will grow out of, my ten year old had it and was miserable until i learned how to control it. If that doesn't help, seek a dermitologist as it may be allergy related.

My son has really dry skin. I talked to his doctor and he perscribed cortazone 2%. It helped. I also used the fack version of Eucerin in the tub. It's really greasy, but I put it on before he went to bend under the jammies and he's alot better now.

This may sound crazy, but have you tried a little neosporin? When my hands are really dry, they crack and bleed. I put neosporin on at night to help them heal, but it also softens my skin. Another idea - nipple cream, the kind you use for breastfeeding when your nipples get irritated. Same idea. Also, safe if she puts her hands in her mouth.

My 3 yr old has very dry skin.  Her doctor told me to mix 75% unscented lotion with 25% white vasiline together.  Give your daughter a nice long bath.  Bathe her until her skin wrinkles then pat her dry.  Leave her alittle damp and then rub her down in the lotion mixture.  It works wonders!!  I even use this now after I shave my legs....

Weleda baby products are amazing. I use Calendula Oil for my daughter and even on my skin. I've also used Coconut oil - it's the best!

I am an dermatology RN and both of my boys have really dry skin also known as eczema.  A good tip is after giving your child a bath lather her down in plain old Vaseline and put on her pjs.  Also bathe her using Aveeno baby wash and use Aveeno baby lotion in morning when she wakes up.  Adding a humidifier in her room will also put moisture in the air.  If her skin still stays dry after all of that, then she needs to see a dermatologist.  Good luck.

ok first of all not all baby products have no perfume.....that will burn bad.....the best cream i have ever used( i have a 4 year old with sever aczema) is actualy a mixture of three.....i use a cortizone creem 0.5% can be bought at a drug store.....a zinc creem(like for diper rash) and a cream called uramal...also bought at a drugstore...mix it and aply right after a bath....do not wipe skin dry bolt it insted this keeps moisture in the skin.....dont use any sopes for a while sope dryes the skin....this is coming from a mom that has delt with this for 4 years.....hope this helps and if you find anything elts that works for you let me know.....

Aquaphor has been great too.  You can get the generic brand at CVS.  We put it on our baby's entire body several times a day with doctor's permission.  You really should talk to your pediatrician because he may have some other insights.   Wishing you the best.

Try Aquaphor made by Eucerin it is like GOLD in my home. It is about $20 for a large jar but it lasts quite a while (6 months for my 2 kids) and I put it over their whole body when they get out of the tub. I would not be with out it now. Our pediatrician also told me to use the "adult" not the baby, sensitive skin dove bar to cleanse. It worked for us hope you try too!!!

Honey my son has the same problem and he's 3 now. The one thing that really works for him is hydrocortisone cream(Eucerin). He has a prescription for it but it can be purchased over the counter as well. Hope it helps!

Ok. I had the same issue with my son. Here is the cure. Bathe only every other day. Use Aveno Baby Eczema wash for hair and body. Other shampoos in the water with dry out the skin as well.
Then LUBE LUBE LUBE. Use Eucerin lotion. Get the thickest one which I think is "dry skin therapy plus intensive repair lotion" and lube twice a day minimum (maybe when she changes clothes) until the skin gets better. THEN use Aquaphor on the parts that are really itchy or red. Use that as many times a day as you can. In a week it will be almost gone and in two weeks her skin will be totally changed. After it stops being irritated the key is to continue lubing as much as possible. You can discontinue the Aquaphor but continue with the others.

You should give Bio Oil ago. It is available at most good pharmacies/chemists. I have suffered with dermatitis and eczema since birth (36 years) and only recently have received a considerable change in the skin and outbreaks since i started using the Bio Oil. It may sting a little at the first application, but only for a few seconds if the skin is open. It does not stay oily on the skin and goes in very fast. It also creates a great barrier against water. I would recommend using it 3 times a day, and because it is an oil, it goes a long way, you don't need much. (The bottle says not to use on broken skin, but I have had no choice and besides a little sting for a very short time, there were no problems with the use on my cracked skin- which was to the point of bleeding and I was unable to "fist" my hand due to the cracks and fissures in the skin). It has really worked for me. If you try it, I hope it works for your child as well. Cheers.

Hi, my daughter has excema and we are currently under a consultant nurse, but before our referral the health visitor was extremely helpful, they can prescribe you non irritant creams. Ones you can buy off the shelf are E45 although Aqueous cream is better as has less additives. Both these can be used as soap substitutes as well. Don't put anything in the bath water and try not to bath every night. My daughter currently uses Hydromal, which is almost like Vaseline, but its great stuff, just smother body in it at night time allowing plenty of time to soak in, think your health visitor or GP should be able to prescribe. Hope this helps!

Cetaphil - can be bought at Walmart or on-line, is very helpful for our 5 month old grandaughter who has horrendously dry skin.   We have found that we can only bathe her 1 -2 times a week.  At times we can't use soap.  Dove when we do.  Clothes must be washed in Dreft and rinsed twice.  Cotton clothing when possible.

Hi there...I had a son who had such dry skin he was scratching at night in his sleep, and would wake up to blood on his sheets every day...we tried a product called SENSARIA (the brand) and the item was nourishing moisturizer...it cleared up and he has not had an issue like that in four years...I also suggest NO SOAP EVER!!! Body wash will be so much easier on his skin, and finally for sensitve skin, you also have to watch laundry detergents...Sensaria has a citrus cleaner that can be used for laundry and it is more gentle than woollite. We loved the results sooo much I became a rep...Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you!
