I'm scheduled for a c-section this coming Sunday! Soo excited! In July our family is going to Lake Powell for our family reunion we have every couple of years. We get a house boat and usually stay in a tent (by preference) from 4-7 days. This year we are wanting to go soo bad but aren't sure if our baby will be too young to go through all that (won't be sleeping in a tent this year!) He will be exactly 2 months old when we go. So do you think that's too young?! I am definately going to talk to my doctor too but just wanted to see everyone elses opinions and if you've personally taken your youngin' out that soon and for that long. THANX!! =D

I don't think it will be a problem with going on vacation. And talk to the babys doctor when you go in.

Also during take off and landing try feeding the baby a little bit of a bottle to help with the altitude adjustment. And it will help with popping of the ears. (I don't know if you have thought of this also) But make sure that your babys car seat is Aircraft safe. Some of them are safe but some are not. I think they will check it at baggage check but I would make sure before you go.

If you are camping out and bottle feeding. Sterilize the disposible nipples and vaccuum seal them into the freezer bags one per bag. Then when it is time for a feeding just cut open one of the bags and you have a sterilized nipple all ready.

I hope this helped you and I hope you have a very nice vacation

We went camping for 6 nights when my little girl was 8 weeks old!! She slept great, the fresh air seems to do them good lol!! You mentioned you were having a c-section, I had the same inscision but for major complications, not a c-section and just a woarning that you may not be all that comfortable if you choose to sleep in tents, you may still be tender lol!! If you aren't worried about being uncomfortable, then I say go for it, babies tend to addapt to what you are doing, just don't let them get overtired and your nights SHOULD be peaceful enough lol! I don't think 2 months is too young at all, my first child was 5 weeks old on his first camping trip (just 1 night) and then 4 months old on his 2nd trip (3 nights), My 2nd child was 6 months old (6 night trip) and they all have done great!!

It is actually easier to vacation when the baby is that small! Have fun and try to relax. The only thing you should be concerned with is that it is really hot at Lake Powell in July (which is dangerous of small babies that have trouble regulating their body temp). Make sure you can keep cool but other wise you should be fine.

My son was 2 1/2 weeks old when we went on our first vacation, by plane, to Florida. I was nervous as well, but he did great, just use your common sense and you should be just fine. I would suggest getting those pre-made formula bottles that you can just screw a nipple on for travel time, they are very handy for keeping him happy when he just needs a little something to get him through until your next stop (as well as helping with ear popping if you're going by plane).

My son was 2 weeks old when we flew to Melbourne and drove from there to Port Macquarie. (takes aprox 16hrs) he was fine. We stayed at my husbands fathers house for a week before driving to Newcastle and then to Sydney for the flight home.

My daughter's first trip was at 2 months and she was fine. It was actually the easiest trip we've been on. Just be very cautious about germs at that age. I know you're loved ones will mean well and be anxious to get their hands on that brand new cutie but at that age you can't be too careful of germs ( okay, you can be too careful but not by much). I would suggest packing some antibacterial gels and using them a lot! They're not good for every day use but when your newbie is being passed around a lot it's a wise choice. Don't be shy about asking people to do up their hands before they love on your loved one! You're that little ones first line of defense!

I took my daughter on her first camping trip at 1 week. Do I think it was too young? No way! She had everything she needed and we were able to care for her just as well as we would had we been home. We have a camp trailer and I made sure that she was protected from the sun and bugs and all that, but mostly we just enjoyed being outside in the great scenery. To this day, she loves to get down and dirty outside. Camping is one of her favorite things, followed by fishing, which we also did on that trip. If you feel comfortable taking him, then I say go for it. Just make sure that you take everything that you're going to need and some things that you hope you won't (thermometer, tylenol, etc).

thank you moms! we actually are driving out to lake powell, i think its like a 6-8 hour drive. and i plan on breastfeeding so that will be a little bit easier for the most part. to me 2 months old didnt sound really too young to go on vacation but im a first time mom so im not too sure. there will be TONZ of eager family members anxiously waiting their turns to watch/hold him so im definately not worried about that part! Thank you again!!

i took all 4 of my kids on a plane when our youngest was only 5 wks old for 2.5 wks and have done many road trips and another flight since she was born. She turned 1 last week and has seen alot of Qld in one year. so taking your baby on a vacation at 2 months is not too early, take lots of photo's though as they probably will never remember they where there.

Enjoy your holiday and your new baby

My daughter was 3 weeks old when we went on holiday to Florida - 9 hours on a plane from the UK. We were staying in a villa, so I had a microwave steriliser and just made up bottles every evening the way I normally did. I also had a lot of little water bottles so I could give her water in between feeds. Apart from a dodgy moment on the first day where she over-heated somewhat (we got her into a/c and out of her buggy at the earliest opportunity), it was no trouble. We had gone with my ILs so there was always someone to watch the baby - and my boys loved getting extras rides in Disney when we did baby swaps.

As long as you feel up to going then go. If you are bottle feeding then it could become a bit of a chore to sterilise and make bottles but nothing that can't be sorted. You will enjoy the break so go and have a great time!
