So this is my 2nd pregnancy and I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I do not have a single risk factor, am 26 years old, fit, healthy and my numbers were only veeeeeery slightly higher (my fasting and 4th hour #s were both fine, it was the 1 and 2 hour that were several points higher) so my doctor told me that I will have to modify my diet but should not need insulin or any drastic measures.
Can other mommies who are or have gone through this share their experience? I'm definitely craving sweets and am freaking out about not being able to have any for the next 2 months. Do I have to cut them out completely? Can I have a piece of chocolate or cake on occasion?
I am meeting with a nutritionist in a couple days, but I just wanted to get some ideas/words of encouragement from fellow moms!
