Has anyone gotten this b/c test came back positive for high risk of preterm labor in a week or two. If so did anyone actually go in preterm labor or any side effects?

Hello....was the shot for possible early arrival....for the baby's lung development? I had placenta previa at 4 months and recieved steriod shots till delivery....they were horrible...kept me up for days!!! But my child didnt come early like they thought...but he sure could SCREAM!!! Best of luck!

Yes it was for possible early arrival/ for baby lungs. I wasnt told anything side effects or anything. Im just concerned if there will be any side effects, even though they "think" i may go in labor in the next 2 weeks will this shot make me go in labor ahead of time... I still have to go back in 24 hours to recieve the other part of the steroid shot..

It will not make you go into pre term labor. It is just to help the babies lungs on the off chance you do. Since I was so early they gave me magnesium (sorry about spelling), now that had awful side effects for me not the boys.

I had the steroid shot at 29 weeks, test came back positive. I was then put on very strick bed rest after being in the hospital for three days. My water broke at exactly 37 weeks..... No side affects, I have a very happy and healthy eight month old....Good luck...

Hi Sharika, I had the shots at 33 1/2 weeks and was delivered by emergency c section a week later. John had trouble breathing for the first 20 hours but after that hasn't looked back. I really believe the shots helped him survive and get properly breathing earlier. So I don't regret them. I actually don't even remember the actual injections so they cant have been too bad...lol

Hi, I also had the shot at 31 weeks for lung development. I don't recall any side effects. My daughter was born at 32 weeks and I don't see any signs of side effects on her, she is about to be 5 and doing very well...

Hi, I had steroid shots (2) when I was 31 weeks with my son as I was bleeding heavily and they thought he would be born early. I didn't go into labor until the day he was due and there was no side effects other than the shot hurt a lot! My son is now 14 and is 6' tall and eats like a horse and is healthy and happy and doing well at school so no long term side effects on baby from what I can see.

I was in pre term labor my 29th week with my twins, and got 2 steroid shots. I ended up giving birth to my sons at 30 wks. I don't recall having any side effects, and it was very benefical to my sons.
