SPD Pregnancy - 34 weeks and suffering SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction)

I had really severe SPD when I was pregnant with my first. It started around 25 weeks and progressed really quickly. I was 8 days late so I was induced and with the epidural didn't feel most of the labor. No problems getting her out because of the SPD. Afterward I was still having pain off and on for a few months. It just slowly got better and better.

I had SPD and I spent most of my labour in the shower, rocking on a yoga ball. I found the heat and pressure from the shower helped with the pain. Rocking on the yoga ball was very soothing and a bit of a distraction. I had a back labour which means the baby's spine was againist mine making labour (well actually it was more horrendous back pain than contractions) very painful although saying that I had a natural and drug free birth. Sorry I don't mean to scare you or make you worry. My SPD didn't go straight away after birth, I still had alot of pain in my right hip when I walked etc and had to have physio for a couple of weeks. Within a month my hip was back to normal and pain free. Everyone is different, have a chat to your doctor or midwife.

hi i had it with my first pregnancy.... although it was painfull throughout the pregnancy, the labour was as exprected, I had a normal drug free labour. My second pregnancy I didn't develope SPD, all pregnancies are different!

I had it with both my pregnancies. It went away right after birth tho, thank god lol. I couldn't walk up stairs without crying, couldn't roll over in bed, couldn't put on socks (the list goes on) It was worse with my first pregnancy tho. I found that sleeping with a pillow between my legs helped a little. As for it affecting labor, with my first I ended up getting induced (10 days late) and the contractions took all my attention and I don't really remember my hips being sore. Later on I had an epidural so it didn't matter. With my second, I had a water birth and the buoyancy and the heat really helped to relax me, and I didn't notice any hip pain at the time either. There are certain labor positions that are suppose to help with SPD. The worst labor position for ladies with SPD is the typical laying flat on your back with legs up.

I had to be induced i didnt want to. I wanted it too be natural you know. But I was 4 days late. I had a doctors apt on friday, the basicly said "Yo, you gotta get induced your four days late it has to come out now". They striped my membranes that day. They told me to be at the hospital @ 6 a.m. monday morning and they induced me. She was born with erbs palsy, its not like cebreal plasy, she got stuck on my pelvic bone on the way out and it stretched her nerves in her right arm so she didnt really have that much movement in it, but shes doing better she gets therapy and all. But they said if I ever had another kid it would be a definate csection, witch makes me scared to death.

hi i had spd with my youngest and had to use crutches to walk as it was so painful. i had physio once a week and a pregnancy belt to support the bump and my back. a hot water bottle helps too when lying down. as for labour i had a normal delivery but had to have a epidural due to the doctor putting my legs in stirrups to put a clip on the babys head. when in labour if you can keep moving like swaying from side to side this helps the spd. hope you find this helps for you and good luck.
