38 weeks +5 days and keep thinking im going into labour at night

I KNOW EXACTLEY HOW YOU FEEL IVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME THING FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW AND EVERY NIGHT AROUND THE SAME TIME IT STARTS!! ITS REALLY ANNOYING BUT I SPOKE TO THE MIDWIFE AND SHE SAYS THE PAINS ARE JUST EVERYTHING PREPARING FOR BIRTH. I HAVNT SLEPT PROPERLY IN AGES!! IVE ONLY GOT THREE DAYS LEFT UNTIL MY DUE DATE. GOOD LUCK NE WAY XX.

Ur very close to give birth do it body is preparing for labor. U could always tried to call ye doctor and let dem know symptoms

Oh man, you poor thing! Have you told your mid wife this? What did she suggest? I think, like i was told as frustrating as it is try to keep your fluids and food intake up. have you got gaviscon? I think that is good ifyou can take that. I got annoying wind too and that helped me. Also do you have someone who could massage you? That might ease it a bit. Try to get some sort of rest and keep calm.

Hang in there. The last days are a waiting nightmare and its normal to be on high alert desperately searching for the signs of labour starting. Its really annoying to hear it, but I found they were right when they said "you ll know when it happens" (meaning you ll be sure once you are really in labour). Every day near the end seems like a year-but one thing is for sure, it will happen!
Was it labor or are you still waiting??? I guess if I don t hear back from you, you re in labor now or (if you are lucky) you have already given birth?? Good luck!!!

Regarding the back pain can be back labor. I had completely misunderstood what that meant last March when I had my son. I thought it was what people with bad backs have - and I have a bad back so just expected it. But it's not - it's typically when the baby is facing toward your belly rather than toward your back. And so you feel actual contractions in your back. It sucks but it's nothing to be afraid of and your doctor will manage the baby's position just fine. It's very common.

Pressure on your bum sounds like you are super close! I totally thought I was about to have a bowel movement on the delivery table and the nurse assured me that there was nothing in there, she had checked and that the pressure is the baby's head and it's exactly the way it's suppose to be. (And if you do poop a little then it's NO big deal at all. But they say your body tries to cleanse itself before labor -just one of those natural and great things about women's bodies.

Feeling like you have to pee and not is also totally normal. I actually had that quite often before pregnancy, for years. Just a hyper bladder and it's completely stopped since I've had my son. It's fantastic. Sometimes child birth can do good things for our bodies!

Make sure you do go to the hospital when you need to - it's really important! Good luck! You've probably already given birth as I'm writing this! Congratulations!!!

that happened to me. I was 38 weeks pregnant with my son, i was having back labor pains and my legs (inner thighs) were constantly hurting... I called my doctor and they told me to start drinking lots of water. Come to find out I was very dehydrated even though i drank water everyday all day. YOu should drink lots of water and eat fruits that actually consists of water (like apples, watermelon, oranges, etc). if you continue to not be able to sleep, contact your O.B. and make an appointment to be seen. If your water breaks go to the e.r. immediately.

Sorry but I'm going to have to disagree with the contractions... When I went into preterm labor, the only reason I went in was because of the frequency, not the intensity of the contractions. When I went in to he hospital and was being monitored I COULD BARELY FEEL THE CONTRACTIONS, and the nurse doing the evaluation was amazed that I wasn't writhing in pain from them. When I actually had my son It was the same thing. I dialated to a 4 before I got the epidural being able to talk through every contraction (the only reason I got the epidural was because I was started on pitocen). So if they get regular I would go in... I went in 4 times with my son before they quit stopping my labor....  Use your best discression though, you know your body best.

when the pain does not ease when you move around or continues when you are up go in and if you are worried, if the baby stops moving, go in. i had back labor with 2 of my girls and you will have no doubts when hard labor starts!

Drink plenty of water and lie on your left side. If you are dehydrated even a little bit, it can bring on contractions or braxton hicks. I would suggest that you at least phone your dr. and let him/her know what is going on. And if you feel that you may need to go to the hospital, then go. Better to be safe than sorry. I have what is called silent labor. With my DD, I felt no contractions or pain and went in to the hospital when I lost my mucous plug. My contractions were just over 1 minute apart at that time. With my twins, I woke up from a dead sleep, went to the bathroom, lost my plug, summoned the dr (Thank God I was already on hospital bedrest!), dilated from 1 to 5 to a foot sticking out while she was checking me, and had my boys an hour later via emergency c-section. I had no pain with contractions, and actually didn't feel them at all.

I'm glad to see this because the same is happening to me at the moment. I'm 39 wks +3. I get up and walk around and get something to drink, water/warm milk or juice mainly. This is my first baby so I can't say much more than that, but I know the baby is close to appearing. Don't panic is always on my mind and I'm certain I'll know when I'm in labour, with or without the water breaking. Good luck and enjoy a bath or shower when you can - it really helps.

awwww your BIG DAY is coming VERY soon! :) I had ALL of the above symptoms you are describing just a couple of days before my last child was born. If the pains wake you up in the middle of the night, and don't go away with walking, or you have to stop while walking because of the pain...you are in labor! congrats and good luck! :)

Labor pain doesn't go away when you are up and moving. I would suggest that you get up and try to move around a little to ease your discomfort. You are probably really just uncomfortable from being sooooo close. It sucks I know. You will KNOW when you are in labor. You will have VERY CONSISTENT contractions. Mine started as though the beginning of a period, but came every 10 mins. or so for a little while, then would subside for several hours, then came back (it went on l like this for about a week) then on the day I went into labor I was having contractions every 5 mins. ALL day, but they hardly hurt. When they came every 3 mins. and were painful, I called the dr. and went to the hosp. If getting up eases the pain then do that. You are probably getting close, but I'd wait until the contractions are 5 mins. apart regularly for at least an hour. Congrats!!!! Or if your water breaks then definitely go to the hosp. FYI when your water breaks *if it does at home* it will sorta leak constantly it doesn't stop after one whoosh, just wish someone had told me that when I had my daughter lol
