Doctor made me 1 cm dilated at 38 weeks

I HAD TESTED POSITIVE FOR GROUP B STREP WHEN I WAS IN LABOR WITH MY DAUGHTER, AT 34 WEEKS I WAS 4 CENTIMETERS DIALATED I AS WELL WENT INTO EARLY LABOR DUE TO DEHYDRATION. THEY HAD TO GIVE ME THE STUFF TO STOP CONTRACTIONS I CANT THINK OF WHAT IT IS RIGHT NOW :( SORRY LOTS ON MY MIND. I ALSO AFTER APPROXIMATELY 9 HRS OF ACTIVE LABOR HAD MY WATER BROKEN BY THE DOCTOR THAN 20 MIN LATER MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN. DONT WORRY SWEETIE EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAVE TALKED ABOUT IS NORMAL NORMAL NORMAL AND IHAD REAL REAL CONTRACTIONS FOR 2 1/2 ALMOST 3 WEEKS ITS HORRIBLE BUT WHEN THE REAL DEAL HITS YOU KNOW IT LETS SAY YOUR WORST PERIOD CRAMPS TIMES 20 EXCEPT I HAD BACK LABOR SO I WAS A HELL OF ALOT IN PAIN. ONCE I GOT MY EPIDURAL 2 HOURS INTO LABOR I WAS RIGHT ON MYSPACE LOL...ANYWAY ENOUGH ABOUT MY MISSED MEMORIES I DO WISH YOU THE BEST BEING 1 CM DILATED AT 38 WEEKS.

I was 1cm dilated for two weeks and ....nothing. They did a membrane sweep and........nothing. 18 days overdue I was finally induced. 38 weeks is a perfectly healthy age for the baby to be delivered so if anything does happen just know the baby is well developed at this stage so try not to worry and just enjoy this exciting time. I was 2cm dilated at 36 weeks and the same at 38 weeks , I wanted him out really badly so I did all the things you can do to help bring on labor; I drank rasberry tea leaf , ate pineapples, walked , had rough sex and then my water broke the next day but who even knows if that worked if it was just a coincidence

samantha this is a very common practice these days by doctors...at 38 weeks your B endorphine levels continue to increase to such a time your brain releases the chemical oxytocin and away you go. that is the plan anyway. aso no need to feel nervous about Bstrep also common in pregnant women , most likely during labour they will administer through iv an antbotic (penicillin) you are in good hands

I would have slugged my OB for stripping my membranes and not asking me first!! What a jerk! You need to tell your doctor that you want her to ASK before she just starts performing procedures on you willy-nilly. You need to stand up for yourself AND your baby! Get a really good support team to go with you when you deliver and make sure your doctor KNOWS what you want from your birth and what you DON'T want her doing.

i was 2 cm dilated for a month with my first! and had my membranes sweeped as well. they had to brake my water for me! your gonna be just fine!! just keep an i on your own body. and contractions are normal!

Yeah, I had two S&S done, and I went 8 days late. I think it's got about a 50/50 chance of "helping" things along...that being said, unless your body is ready to be "helped along" then it won't. Good luck, and try not to stress too much about being 1 cm dilated at 38 weeks.

I was 1cm for a week and when I went in the following week I was still only 1cm. At that point I was 12 days past my due date so my Dr. did the Membrane Sweep. I had to have it done 3 times that day to get my labor going. The first time it was done only dialed me another cm, but it took 4 hr for me to dilate and I had really mild contractions. The second time, I didn't dilate any more, still at 2cm, but the third time was the charm and it sent me into full blown labor.

Long story short, I think it's different for every woman, but if it was done just the one time, I've read it could take up to a week for labor to begin.

Don't worry too much about being 1 cm dilated at 38 weeks and good luck!

I had this done 3 or 4 times from about 38.5 weeks and STILL went 11 days over. Don't worry about it too much :)

I had that done too, hurt like hell. I think I had that done right before my due date and I ended up being 10 days overdue

Unfortunatly no...I had my membranes swept twice within a week and nothing happened. It COULD hurry your body a little bit to go into labor but doesnt for everyone. Some of my friends went into labor within 48 hours of that and I didnt, I was induced and barely dilated to 3 after 26 hours! Dont get your hopes up like I did that I was gonna go into labor any hour after that, but know that it could happen. The contractions/cramps are normal. Its your body getting ready to go into labor. Most woman have 1-3 "false labors" before the real one. Have you dropped a lot?? Getting a lot of acid reflex?? That means your body is getting prepared for labor too.

I don't think you have anything to worry about being 1 cm dilated at 38 weeks. You can be 1 cm dilated for weeks. If your water breaks it can be hours before you deliver. so just remain calm and if your water breaks go to the hosp. cause you do need to be on an antibiotic IV for the strep. or if you have alot of bleeding I would go to the hosp. but alittle spotting is normal.

I don't think you have anything to worry about being 1 cm dilated at 38 weeks. You can be 1 cm dilated for weeks. If your water breaks it can be hours before you deliver. so just remain calm and if your water breaks go to the hosp. cause you do need to be on an antibiotic IV for the strep. or if you have alot of bleeding I would go to the hosp. but alittle spotting is normal.
