I was 11day over my due date i tried everything especially lots of sex which my partner full enjoyed. i finally took caster oil and coke (it looks discusting and tasts it too), after a few hours i went into labour and had a 8lb 1oz healthy baby boy.

Truth is, nothing will work unless your body is ready! All of these things people have mentioned can help tip the scales a tad sooner if your cervix is favorable, but if not, they may only serve to make you uncomfortable, or contract uselessly. Of all the recommendations, sex is the best best. It's not the physical act itself, but the prostaglandins in semen which can induce labor.

I know you're feeling like crap right now trying to get through the last few weeks of pregnancy. But, you're still a couple of weeks away . I'm sure its not easy to rest with your 18 month old either. Pull in some favors and get someone to help look after her so you can rest up. Remember, even though the fetus is pretty much ready to go. Its still maturing and gaining some weight it needs. You're not at 40 weeks yet so count down the days. Discuss with your Dr at your weekly appt what their feeling on induction is.

Most don't let you go more than 1 week overdue anymore. Good luck. Hope it goes well. Just hang in there and count the days.... Tell your partner you need some help with the little one now...

Its sounds awful! i think Sex is a much better way, and the semen helps to lubricate during labour too, Thanks Amanda, i've read through the forums but could'nt understand what to do with it? castro oil sounds like something that you put on the body or uses externally.

as for sammiy the castro oil is to be drank in at least a 8oz. glass of what ever you chose to drink it with but it will make you sick. it gives you diarreah and can cause you to vomit. whatever you drink it with you will probably never want to drink again. or at least for me thats what happened. i put it in a glass of grape juice and stired it up and then drink it real fast. then i got so sick and nothing happened other than me being sick and miserable.

beleive it or not sex will put you in labor! their is something else you can do my doctor told my childs father to message my opening and it will help to dialate you. and of course you can walk. but the first two worked for me.

Acupuncture.... it works! Find a practitioner who is qualified and has a lot of experience. Worked for me with my first one who was overdue (tho we had a snag as the OB was wrong about which direction he was laying...so have an ultrasound first!).

Lots of excersise.Walk around a lot.Take frequent breaks to put your feet up but it is natural and will increase circulation.It is the first thing they tell you to do in the hospital to increase or induce labor.It worked for me.I know you sort of feel like your walking around with a bowling ball between your legs which makes walking difficult but it really works.I am sure you are on your feet a lot with a 18 month old anyway.I hope it works for you.

A Pedicure!!!!!! There is a nerve that when they masage your feet that can cause contractions. It may take a little while, mine came that night.

Walking, get a pedicure, SEX, ask your doc to strip your membranes...not the most comfortable thing, but helped me with two out of three!

I went into labour after cleaning the bath tub lol. The pressure form leaning over the side of the tub did ti for me. I was on a cleaning frenzy that day and the bath tub was the last thing I cleanned. 2 hours later I started to get back pain and 6 hours later I was holding my baby.

My doctor called it the husband injection, have sex and immediately following put a pillow under your bottom and lay down for one hour. The semen has a hormone in it that is said to either help with dialation or thinning out your cervix. I tried it once without success, but has a friend that swears by it AND it was recommended by my doctor. I would be all for trying it again however laying down with your bottom elevated puts the baby up into you and I know I had issues trying to catch my breath until I turned on my side, but then I was still uncomfortable.

sex worked for me, but I was not late with any of my pregnancies. With my first one I had sex my water broke, but I had not contractions so they had to give me medicine to start my contractions.

It's not a good idea, nor is it generally recommended any more, to take castor oil. You'll be on the pot for hours.

Caster oil will! I promise!!! I did it with both of my kids and my mom did with me too. Here is what I did. I took a 32 oz cup, put in some sunny delight and added two tablespoons of caster oil. With my first child my water started leaking at 4am the next morning (I took it at night both times) with my second one, my water broke about two hours later........both babies beautiful and healthy!

nothing will until your body is ready. Are you dilating? When you get into very early labor and you start dilating sex will help, but until then don't do anything by ingestion. I have spoken to MANY women you used castor oil. For those that were already in early labor half loved it and half said it was the most miserable birth they'd been through. For those that weren't dilating yet ALL of them said they were miserable! It will give you diarhea, that is the concept behind it working, the diarhea caused contractions. There aren't herbal teas that start it, I imagine you are talking about red rasberry leaf, that is for strengthening the uterus during late pregnancy, not inducing. Cohosh is supposed to work when inserted, but you should only try that under supervision of someone that knows what they are doing. One more week will not kill you. My 3 are each 17 months apart. I have spent more than half of the last 4 years pregnant. I know it sucks, pregnancy sucks, but it won't last forever, he will come out.

But sex does help. Stimulating the nipples and massaging the ankles has been rumored to induce uterine contractions. The thing is lots of stuff can trigger contractions but if your body and baby aren't ready for labor then nothing will really work. Good luck, hon. I know it's tough. :/

Laughing is the best remedy, I laughed hysterically during the day and my water broke at night a few hours later at 38 weeks pregnant. Well that's what I was told by my OB. Best of luck.

Ask your midwife to perform a 'stretch and sweep'. Not the most pleasant experience and you may need a few of them to bring you into labour but it worked for me with my second.

Oh, I know just how you feel....all my pregnancies were so miserable toward the end, I almost felt suicidal at times... some of the suggestions I got were:



copious amounts of sex (didn't work for me) Semen is a natural uterine stimulant, and can cause mild contractions...

an anaema... (didn't try, but was highly tempted) apparently, the stimulation and irritation of the bowel being fully emptied, makes, the uterus also sensitive and thus brings on labour...(it DID work for my sister in law, though)

Blue cohosh (a herbal concoction that helped a little, but didn't cause full-on labour) used much around the world by herbalists, and natural therapists to bring on labour...



my first 2 babies ended up being induced, and my third came when he decided he was ready...(he was 40 weeks+)



For some, it is a matter of finding that "silver bullet" that will mercifully bring labour on, and bring you baby into the world ASAP...



For the rest of us,....we get to suffer for weeks before our precious little ones decide when they are going to emerge....

Just hang in there, if none of the above work...sooner or later, you will be rewarded with your sweet little baby...be kind to yourself, and rest a lot....xx

i know you dont want to hear this but...nothing will put you into labor that you can do at home. your baby will come when he is ready. im sorry your so miserable but it will be over before you know it and you will miss being prego. good luck momma i hope things go smooth for you!

My friend had a hot as curry chicken, She made it that hot that she was unable to eat it all unless she had a spoonfull at a time then a hole glass of milk after :) the next 5hours she had some pains and before we new it i was getting a call to go to the hospital and experince the joy of her going in to labour. Not that it works for everyone but she was also around 38weeks. Good luck

i heard a massage that can trigger certain pressure points on your feet that will induce contraction call around someone that does pregnancy massages and they will know.

Lots of walking, sex, pineapple are all said to help induce labour
